The winners of the 12th Actor\u2019s Festival of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Konjic were announced tonight. According to the audience votes, Gordana Boban was named Best Actress for her outstanding performance in the play Kiselina<\/em> (Acid<\/em>), a production of the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica and Scene MESS. Actress Gordana Boban shared her thoughts on the award, the play Kiselina<\/em>, and the importance of ensemble work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Boban emphasized that an award from the audience is always the most cherished, as it is a recognition that doesn\u2019t come often.\u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to be in Konjic, to perform in front of the Konjic audience\u2014it\u2019s truly a privilege to receive an award from the public. We really don\u2019t get that kind of recognition often, which makes it all the more special and meaningful,\u201d said Boban.The award was presented to her on behalf of the Festival\u2019s General Sponsor, the company Bosnalijek, by Senadin Begta\u0161evi\u0107, a member of the Artistic Council of the Actor\u2019s Festival of BiH. This is Boban\u2019s second award at this festival\u2014the first one was six years ago\u2014and she hopes it won\u2019t be the last.<\/p>\n

She received the award for her role in the play Kiselina<\/em>, which she describes as one of her favorite productions to perform in. \u201cKiselina<\/em> is one of the dearest plays I\u2019ve ever done, precisely because it\u2019s like life itself copied directly onto the stage. We worked on it in a truly beautiful atmosphere,\u201d Boban explained. She emphasized that the energy and connection created during rehearsals are now being passed on to the audience. Although emotionally demanding and intense\u2014both for the actors and the audience\u2014she believes the play is important and meaningful. Kiselina<\/em> has already won numerous awards at other festivals, which, according to Gordana, speaks volumes about its quality.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mario Drma\u0107 was named Best Actor at this year\u2019s Actor\u2019s Festival of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Konjic for his role in the play Ne daj se, generacijo<\/em> (Don\u2019t Give Up, Generation<\/em>), a co-production of the Youth Theatre Sarajevo and the association Moje pozori\u0161te<\/em> (My Theatre<\/em>). After receiving the award\u2014presented on behalf of the Festival’s Partner, BH Telecom, by Selma Veledar, a business services specialist from the Telecom Directorate in Mostar\u2014Drma\u0107 shared his thoughts and reflections on the responsibility that comes with the recognition, especially when the audience expects what he called \u201claughter therapy\u201d from him.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”21461″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]\n

\u201cWell, of course it\u2019s a big responsibility\u2014now that you\u2019ve told me that when the audience hears \u2018Mario Drma\u0107,\u2019 they show up. Makes sense,\u201d Drma\u0107 joked. \u201cWhich means I\u2019ll have to prepare even better for next year.\u201d Despite the light-hearted comment, he emphasized that he sees the award as something he owes to the audience, especially given his long-standing appearances in Konjic and the familiarity he has with the people there. \u201cI truly feel a great sense of responsibility through my work, to make sure future projects are even better\u2014more inspiring, humorous when needed, and enriched with strong dramatic elements,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The award for Best Ensemble Performance went to the cast of the Sarajevo War Theatre \u2013 SARTR for their play Totovi<\/em>. Actors Sne\u017eana Bogi\u0107evi\u0107 and Sead Pandur, members of the Totovi<\/em> ensemble, shared their excitement upon receiving the award at the 12th Actor\u2019s Festival of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Konjic. The award was presented on behalf of the Festival’s General Patron, the City of Konjic, by Biljana Hand\u017eo, Cultural Affairs and Youth Advisor for the City of Konjic. Sne\u017eana Bogi\u0107evi\u0107 emphasized how much the award means to them, especially because they feel like \u201ca team that truly understands and connects with one another\u201d after two years of performing the play. \u201cWe\u2019re really happy that in this play, where we feel we\u2019ve become a team that understands and senses each other so well, after two years of being on stage, we received this kind of collective recognition,\u201d said Bogi\u0107evi\u0107.She added that, even though they hadn\u2019t performed the play in several months, once they arrived in Konjic and got back on stage, they all felt great and that \u201csome new things came to the surface.\u201d Even without the award, she said, they would have been fulfilled simply by the joy of performing together.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n

Sead Pandur highlighted that this award is especially joyful because the ensemble hadn\u2019t received a collective performance award in quite some time\u2014awards he considers the most meaningful. \u201cThere used to be about ten of us in the SARTR ensemble\u2014sometimes even fewer. We\u2019re all around the same age, and we\u2019ve done many plays together, often receiving awards for ensemble performance. So, since it\u2019s been a while since we last received such recognition, I have to say this award has truly uplifted and encouraged me,\u201d said Pandur. He reminded everyone that acting is a collective art, and receiving an ensemble award from the audience in Konjic\u2014especially at a festival that only gives out three awards (Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Ensemble)\u2014makes the recognition all the more special.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”21463″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]\n

In addition to the main awards, prizes were also presented in the Regional Program category. The award for Best Actress in the Regional Program of the 12th Actor\u2019s Festival of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Konjic went to Olga Odanovi\u0107 for her role in the play The Bald Soprano<\/em>, produced by the Center for Culture Tivat and directed by Jago\u0161 Markovi\u0107.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n

Actress Olga Odanovi\u0107 shared the following message: \u201cMy heart is full because of the awards we received in Konjic, especially the one for Best Ensemble Performance for our play The Bald Soprano<\/em>. This award means a lot to us because our production is truly a team effort, and we genuinely love it. All individual awards\u2014both mine and Banet\u2019s\u2014belong to the entire The Bald Soprano<\/em> ensemble. Thank you for breathing with us and giving us so much love; I hope you felt it from us as well, right from the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n

We want to commend the Actor\u2019s Festival and its organizers! Thank you for your exceptional hospitality, enthusiasm, and effort in preserving the festival.
