And you open a book about Konjic only to see that the first record testifying about Konjic as a populated place dates all the way back to June 16, 1382 when a caravan passed through the city and left a written record. Although, the findings of archaeological remains, among which is the most significant the Mithraeum located in the very center of the city, confirming that this settlement existed much earlier.
Both, the Ilyrians and the Romans inhabited it as well as the Ottomans and later the Yugoslavs and all of them left their mark with their customs and cultures.
Konjic is also a city of famous artists, for whom there are special places of remembrance.
For instance, in the Birth house of Zuko Džumhur and Heritage Museum are well-preserved important findings that testify to the past of the Konjic region. The museum exhibits replicas from the site of the temple of the god Mithras, the Judge’s chair, various objects of useful value, as well as a collection dedicated to the great Lazar Drljača, the last Bogomil.
Konjic is the city of theater and the city of the widely known ensemble Djevojke sa Neretve, the city of woodcarving, the city of extremely pleasant climate and preserved nature.
