Hidden among the hills, refreshed and bathed by the clarity of the river, Konjic will simply captivate your attention and amaze you. You’ll be asking yourself where am I? Am I dreaming or did I wake up from a dream right in this place named Konjic?

And you open a book about Konjic only to see that the first record testifying about Konjic as a populated place dates all the way back to June 16, 1382 when a caravan passed through the city and left a written record. Although, the findings of archaeological remains, among which is the most significant the Mithraeum located in the very center of the city, confirming that this settlement existed much earlier.

Both, the Ilyrians and the Romans inhabited it as well as the Ottomans and later the Yugoslavs and all of them left their mark with their customs and cultures.

Konjic is also a city of famous artists, for whom there are special places of remembrance.

For instance, in the Birth house of Zuko Džumhur and Heritage Museum are well-preserved important findings that testify to the past of the Konjic region. The museum exhibits replicas from the site of the temple of the god Mithras, the Judge’s chair, various objects of useful value, as well as a collection dedicated to the great Lazar Drljača, the last Bogomil.

Konjic is the city of theater and the city of the widely known ensemble Djevojke sa Neretve, the city of woodcarving, the city of extremely pleasant climate and preserved nature.

As a place with plenty of sun during the summer and just enough snow during the winter, spring rain that drenches the crops, and rain in the fall that makes a perfect prelude to the upcoming winter, Konjic is indeed a city where all 4 seasons are expressed in full beauty.

Another great addition to the beauty of this city is that Konjic is only 45 km away from the airport, close to important religious destinations such as Blagaj, Žitomislići, and Međugorje, as well as the proximity of the sea which makes a perfect beginning of an adventure for every traveler.

Its significant attractions such as rafting on the Neretva River, and ARK D-0 also known as Tito’s nuclear bunker are absolutely unique and a must-do while visiting Konjic. Unlike most cities, Konjic also offers  mountain trails for cycling, hiking, and quad bike rides which is perfect for every adrenaline lover who wants to get in touch with their wild side.
