A tradition preserved from oblivion
Although the idea of establishing a museum in Konjic dates back to 1974, the Heritage Museum was founded in March 2011. The variety and multitude of exhibits make it a perfect place for getting to know the past and natural heritage of Konjic.
The museum is located in the heart of the historic core of the city, on the left bank of the Neretva River right next to the Old Bridge. The motive for establishing this museum was to keep a multi-layered culture of great diversity from being forgotten and decaying, as well as to present it to the public.
The permanent exhibition consists of an ethnographic collection, archaeological collection, gallery space, the Birth House of Zulfikar Zuko Džumhur, and the library.
The museum represents an important part in the development of tourism in the city of Konjic, and with its existence, it contributes to the promotion and preservation of the cultural-historical identity and heritage of the city of Konjic.
It also plays a big part in the promotion and preservation of the old crafts. The museum stands for a place where many cultural events are held such as presentations, book promotions, and exhibitions.
