Vrtaljica is specific by numerous plant species, both on the lower and upper floors, and the endemic species of Black and White pine are especially important, which offer visitors clean air and a perfect view of Konjic, Neretva, and the surrounding mountains.
The area of Vrtaljica is built from the mineral dolomite, and the highlighted presence of magnesium gives this rock special physicochemical characteristics wearability, and ecological reactivity. Because of this, these habitats are very sensitive and subject to erosion and landslides, which is one of the reasons why species that are not found on other geological substrates have settled in these habitats.
