“I know how much impact a single story or a simple poem can have on a child, staying preserved in their memory, as it often guides their later thinking, career choices, or ultimately shapes their character and behavior,” said Bešlić. She added that it is very important for parents to start reading to their children from an early age.

“This emphasis on reading from an early age comes from the well-known fact that children who are read to at a young age start speaking earlier, form sentences more quickly, and develop a much wider vocabulary. As a result, such children tend to be about a year ahead of their peers in terms of ability and skills,” explained writer Senka Bešlić.

During the month of October, membership in the Children’s Department of the City Library Konjic is free of charge.
