Area of the Neretvica River valley is ornamented by greenery of the mountainous region and beautiful emerald Neretvica along with dozen of its tributaries. The greatest treasure of the area are indeed water potentials, tourist capacities as well as forest and agricultural plots.

Valley of the Neretvica River


The area located in the valley of Neretvica river takes nearly one third of Konjic area. There are 62 settlements, approximately 100 hamlets located in the area of Neretvica, and the mountains Bitovnja, Zec, Bokševica, Studenska and Čelinska, which surround it, and contribute to the perfection of the landscape.
This area is very rich in cultural-historical heritage which is confirmed by numerous remains that date back to the Bronze Age and Roman Empire, as well as hundreds of necropolises with over 500 of medieval tombstones (stećci). Among the artefacts, the stone chair found in Bukovica in 1984, stands out in particular.

Mountain tourism in this area has potential of being represented throughout the entire year because there are many activities such as alpinism, mountain biking, collecting medicinal herbs, hiking, camping and many more. Forests of chestnuts are present in areas from 150 to 750 m above the sea level, and this area is among the 3 largest sites of this fruit in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In some parts of this area, you can even see chestnut and fig trees on the same place.
Bitovnja mountain is an area extremely rich in blueberries, and it’s even considered the richest area in the entire Europe. Blueberries also grow on the slopes of Zec mountain and the rest of the upper part of the Neretvica valley and are considered as a trademark of this area.
