National Theater Mostar performed a play ,,Perseids”

16/09/2024by Welcome to Konjic0 comments

Tonight, the theater audience in Konjic had the opportunity to watch another theatrical production, and this time it was the play “Perzeide” by the National Theater Mostar. The author of the text is Emina Kovačević, and the direction is signed by Karmen Obrdalj. The acting trio of Gordana Boban (Selma), Fatima Kazazić Obad (Lucija) and Saša Oručević (Inspector Asim) brings two parallel stories. The first one tells about two friends, Selma, the owner of a beauty salon, and Lucia, a young lonely woman, who comes to Selma’s salon and unexpectedly becomes close. Selma begins to notice traces of violence in her friend, who, as it turns out later, has an unhappy marriage, but she does not want to admit it. In the second story, we follow Selma’s testimony to Inspector Asim, which gives the audience an inkling of the crime, which is confirmed at the very end.

“Emina Kovačević, in agreement with the director Karmen Obrdalj, wrote a very difficult, painful, beautiful text, if you can say so, about the friendship of two women who came together due to some unfortunate circumstances. I am glad to be a part of this project, which talks about a topic that has been bothering our society a lot lately, femicide. In our own way, we tried to say a word about all that,” said the famous BiH actress Gordana Boban.

For the young actress Fatima Kazazić Obad, the very process of working on the play was challenging, because, she says, she had two serious professional partners, Gordana Boban and Saša Oručević, which represented a challenge for her in terms of acting advancement.

“The very theme and idea of the play, unfortunately, is so ubiquitous in today’s society that every day was so painful for me, which is contradictory because we had a lot of fun during rehearsals while creating the play, but when we gather what it is about what we are putting on stage, how creepy it is, then you wake up with a cramp in your stomach. The topics of violence against women, femicide in particular, have disturbed me before, but through this process, because of the character of Lucia, I had to research more and more thoroughly and come up with some data. My analysis, therefore, does not say that it is 100% correct, statistical data in our country show that every fourth woman suffers some form of violence, whether it is physical or mental, and I need to speak about this topic– Kazazic Obad said.

“I am very glad if the play reaches people because if we change one human destiny, I think we have done a lot. We must know that this play was made before all these unfortunate events that brought femicide into the focus of society, so even before that unfortunate event in Gradačac, we performed the play. I’m not going to say that it’s in vain, but I simply hope that it will change the consciousness of some people, some women, that it will give them the strength to deal with the problems that are very present in our society,” said actor Saša Oručević.
