Concert ”Sejfullah&friends”

17/10/2023by Welcome to Konjic0 comments

The manifestation “Evenings of spiritual music/experience of BH polyglots” was officially opened last night with the concert “Sejfullah & friends”, which was held on the Chamber Stage of the National University of Konjic.

#welcometokonjic

On behalf of the City of Konjic, the attendees were greeted by Biljana Handžo, expert associate for culture, expressing her satisfaction with holding the event, which for 17 years has nurtured spiritual music through the experiences of BiH polyphony. Choir “Sejfullah” performed the number “Kad srce salavat donese”, written by Elmas Alić, their member who died last year, while Elmin Sultanić performed the number “Sumejje”, written by Esad Bajić.

Benjamin Mušinović, on behalf of the choir, evoked the memories of the members who are no longer with them, Elmas Alić, Admir Mešukić, Edin Šćukulj and conductor Ragib Habibija, who made an immeasurable contribution to the successful existence and work of the “Sejfullah” choir.

The remaining part of the program was dedicated to guests, friends of the “Sejfullah” choir, and this time they were the Teofilović brothers, twins Ratko and Radiša, from Belgrade. They performed for the first time in Konjic, and delighted the audience with their performance of traditional and almost forgotten songs from the Balkans.

They perform songs in one of the most difficult ways, as they say, when two voices merge into one, i.e. a cappella with two voices, conveying an incredible emotion to the audience, who rewarded it with thunderous applause after each song. This musical duo did not hide their happiness and satisfaction with the successful performance in Konjic, and they were happy to share their impressions.

“The audience followed the concert with so much emotion that it was a complete surprise even for me. We all experienced a wonderful evening together, an unforgettable one to remember,” Ratko said, and his brother Radiša had similar impressions tonight, saying that the atmosphere was very warm and touching. When asked who the Teofilović brothers are, he told us that they are the “guardians of the dream”.

“Our first album is called “Cuvari sna”, which is named by a painting of our late friend Milan Tucović, a painter, and the title was given to that disc by a well-known rock critic, publicist and journalist, Petar Peca Popović. Perhaps he is the best in that preface and wrote that we are people who keep the dream of something forgotten. At that time in 1999, when the disc was released, it was like “advertising in the desert”, because there were other styles then, importance was attached to other things, not music. But we carry music inside us and we live it,” Radiša said.

This year, the Teofilović brothers celebrate 30 years of musical work. They started in 1983 in the city choir in Čačak, at the age of 18, and later, when they continued to perform independently, they started performing traditional songs in a new guise. They have performed all over the world and, as they say, there is no language barrier for their music, because everyone enjoys the music and the songs they perform with a lot of emotion. So far, they have recorded six albums, and on the occasion of 30 years of successful career, they plan to hold a big concert in their native Čačak, followed by performances in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Banja Luka, as well as new collaborations and recordings.

Benjamin Mušinović, director of NU Konjic, said that they succeeded in enriching the program “Evenings of spiritual music/experiences of BiH polyphony” with the performance of the Teofilović brothers.

” Tonight we managed to touch that strange, mystical world of spirituality of the Teofilović brothers only in one part. Their music hides so many chants, sounds and beauty, that they need entire academies of science to penetrate into all of it”, stated Mušinović.

The “Sejfullah&friends” concert was supported by BH Telecom, and the entire event was supported by the City of Konjic and the Sarajevo Foundation for Musical, Performing and Visual Arts. The general media sponsor is Radio Konjic.

The program, in cooperation with the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Konjic, continues on Friday, October 27 in the Cinema Hall, when the concert “Merhaba, ej, nas Resule” will be held by Armin Muzaferija.
