Yesterday in Lisičići, near Konjic, the 28th swimming meeting “Suljo and Mujo” was held. It brought together 50 swimmers from six clubs: “Galeb” Lukavac, “City Water Sports Club” Sarajevo, “Sharks” Sarajevo, “Aquafit” Sarajevo, “Freestyle” Sarajevo and “Lisičići” Konjic.
The organizer of the competition was the Sports Association “Lisičići” Konjic, as part of the Konjic Summer, under the auspices of the City of Konjic.
Competitors swam in the Jablanica Lake, firstly a half-marathon with a length of 750 meters, and then competitions were held in the disciplines of freestyle (50 and 100 meters) and dolphin (50 and 100 meters) in several age categories, from 10 years and older in men’s and female competition
The winner of the half marathon in her group was nine-year-old Aiša Huremović from “GK VS” Sarajevo, and her clubmate Aner Dizdarević is the winner of the half marathon in his category.
“It was tiring because you can’t see, it was difficult to navigate, but it was an interesting experience. The atmosphere is nice, the sun is shining, there are many people and that is our motivation, and this competition also brings new acquaintances” –Aiša stated.
“Usually we train together in other, longer disciplines. I go from medium to longer disciplines, as this was. The ending was dramatic, and I could hear the crowd cheering. I enjoy what I’m doing” – said Aner, adding that after the end of the competition, there will also be enjoyment with a barbecue.
Mensur Duraković stated that they are satisfied with this year’s competition.
“We were also in good luck with the weather, there were many competitors, we are all satisfied. A total of 20 races were held in the men’s and women’s categories. We continue cooperation with old clubs, and we also have new clubs from Sarajevo” Duraković pointed out.
State champion Esma Dizić from club “Aquafit” Sarajevo also performed in Lisičići.
„I’m state champion in disciplines of 100 meters dolphin and 400 meters crawl. I train twice a week and my desire is to be the best” – said a nine-year-old Esma.
On Friday, as part of the “Suljo and Mujo” swimming meet, athletic competitions for children up to 10 years of age were held, in which about forty competitors took part.
