14th Konjic Food Fest held today

03/10/2024by Welcome to Konjic0 comments

Today, the 14th Konjic Food Fest was officially opened and held. This year’s Food Festival, named “Konjic Food Fest 2024,” showcased a rich array of agricultural products, handicrafts, honey and bee products, fruits and vegetables, as well as dairy and cured meat products. Exhibitors from the Konjic area presented a variety of fruits, vegetables, and their related products. The producers expressed satisfaction with the promotion of their offerings. Mediha Hodžić has participated in the festival every year.

“Today we have dairy products, cheese, butter, milk, potatoes, apples, pears, quinces, takishes, mostly domestic products. It is important for us to be able to present everything we produce on our estates, said Hodžić.

Among the exhibitors today was also Himzo Herić.

„Everything on stand is homemade, completely without pesticides. I have chokeberry, takisha pear, onions, potatoes, oats, which no one in Konjic has”

Sabaheta Boloban was also satisfied with today’s festival.

„I’m very satisfied. Last year, we won the award for the biggest product and two years ago an award for the best decorated stand. We offer peppers, tomatoes, chestnuts, pickled peppers, various jams, juices etc.” – Boloban stated

At the Sultanić Refika’s stand, in addition to agricultural products, there were also flower seedlings. “We have hybrid cabbage, and this year the cauliflower has thrived. In addition, we offer bougainvillea flowers, rare white lilac, a decorative fence-laurel cherry, and an African plant,” Sultanić said.

Women’s associations also showcased domestic products at the festival. Each year, the Women’s Association “Most” from Jablanica regularly attends the event in Konjic. Association member Ćamila Imamović expressed her pleasure in being able to present her homemade juices, jams, and handicrafts.

“It’s always nice in Konjic. The rain did not deter the exhibitors from showing their products. Our association deals with the production and processing of fruits and vegetables, as well as catering services. At our stand today there are handicrafts, juices and jams. Juices are made from cherry, apple, raspberry, blackberry, sage, you name it. We also offer juicing services for those who have their own fruit, but cannot adequately pasteurize and sterilize it,” said Imamović.

The women’s association “Vrba” from Mostar are regular exhibitors at the Food Festival in Konjic – said Medina Gosto, the president of the association.

“We are regulars at “Food Fest” and this year we have an expanded composition, we have three tables in front of the association for our members. In Konjic, we have the best socializing and atmosphere. As an association, we exhibit dried figs, jam, figs, pomegranates, sage…everything related to our Herzegovina. In addition, we also have the trade “Medina natural”, which offers everything from medicinal herbs: immortelle, lavender, sage, rosemary, essential oils, creams, and salves… We also have knitted handbags, sweaters etc” – said Gosto.

Amresa Pirija from Konjic traditionally presents her sweets at this festival. This year, especially for the festival, she made a cake in the shape of Mount Prenj and another in the shape of a slice of watermelon as a symbol of solidarity with the Palestinians, Amresa revealed.

“”I’m presenting at the Food Fest this year as well. After all, this is my passion, and appearing at the food festival is something special for me. This year, I made a cake in the shape of Prenj, and support for Palestine is definitely essential. After the festival, the cakes will be auctioned, and the proceeds will go to humanitarian purposes,” Amresa added
