In the period from January to May 2025, tourists made 653,247 visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is an increase of 4.5% compared to the same period in 2024. Domestic tourist visits decreased by 1.8% compared to the same period in 2024, while foreign tourist visits increased by 7.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the period from January to May of this year, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 1,376,759 overnight stays, which is an increase of 5.3% compared to the same period in 2024. Domestic tourists recorded 0.6% more overnight stays compared to the same period in 2024, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was 7.6% higher compared to the same period of the previous year.
Of the total number of overnight stays, domestic tourists accounted for 31.1%, while foreign tourists made up 68.9%.
According to the Agency for Statistics, in the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists, the highest number was recorded by tourists from: Croatia with 20.9%, Serbia with 13.7%, Turkey with 9.3%, Slovenia with 7.6%, China with 4.2%, Germany with 3.9%, and both Italy and Montenegro with 3.3% each. These countries together accounted for 66.2% of the total number of overnight stays, while tourists from other countries made up the remaining 33.9%.
By type of accommodation, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded in the category of Hotels and similar accommodation, accounting for 94.4% of the total.
