Konjic flooded with children’s smiles: The “FutureA” Festival once again brought magic to the city streets.

18/05/2026by Welcome to Konjic0 comments

From the area stretching from the City Market to the City Mosque in Konjic, the traditional children’s festival “FutureA” is being held today, attracting hundreds of children, their parents, as well as numerous visitors to the city streets. This recognizable festival was organized in cooperation with the organization Out of Area and the “FutureA” team from the Netherlands, who were given special thanks for their selfless support and years of dedication.

The event, which transforms the city streets into a large open-air playground, is once again being held as part of the celebration of the International Day of Families. On behalf of the City of Konjic and Mayor Osman Ćatić, the attendees were addressed by Sabina Ćukle.

Sabina Ćukle: “Family gives us wings to fly, and the City of Konjic creates an environment for its growth.”

In her address, Sabina Ćukle emphasized the importance of preserving family values in challenging times, as well as the institutional support that the local community provides to young people.

“What is most important is that these are activities that children truly enjoy — and so do we adults. Today, entire families are here with us, especially those with several children. We all know that family is our root, and we all love being firmly connected to it. It keeps us grounded, but it also gives us wings — it gives us the freedom to fly.”

“In today’s world, which brings various challenges to all segments of society, support for the family is of exceptional importance. The City of Konjic, as a local self-government unit, strives through its programs and measures to provide strong support for children, youth, motherhood, and parenthood. Through pro-natalist policies, support for housing solutions for young people, scholarships for pupils and students, as well as awards for the best achievers, our goal is to create a favorable environment for life and work in our city and homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Ćukle stated.

She also expressed immense gratitude to Anita and William Boss, the people who initiated and brought this significant festival to our country, as well as to their successor Julija, who, together with a team of young and creative people from the Netherlands, brought joy to the children of Konjic.

From summer sledding to mountaineering: What do the children say?

The city streets were transformed into creative and sports zones. The children could choose between face painting, making unique jewelry, and adrenaline-filled challenges that attracted the most attention.

The children did not hide their excitement:

A girl enthusiastically shared her impressions: “I got my face painted! I went sledding and it wasn’t scary at all. Now I’m planning to climb the rock wall and make bracelets!”

The boys mostly stayed at the sports activities: “We like everything, and the best part is the music! We were just throwing at cups and almost hit everything. Now we can’t wait to go play football.”

Brave boys successfully climbed the artificial mountaineering wall: “We reached the very top! It wasn’t hard or scary, we went fast. After this we’re going with our class to the football field—that’s what we’re most excited about.”

The girls spent their creative moments in workshops: “We are making hearts out of small berries, and afterwards we’re definitely going to face painting and the trampoline near the princess. We also really enjoyed the sledding!”

Parents agree: Creative content that children look forward to all year

Parents also did not hide their satisfaction with what they saw, emphasizing that such events are of great importance for children’s socialization and healthy development.

“It’s very interesting and creative for us. We visited a number of stands, went to face painting, and rode the sleds and slides. We especially liked that we created our own T-shirts as a keepsake. It’s a wonderful day for children to socialize and truly enjoy themselves in the sun,” said one of the mothers.

A beautiful sunny day, hundreds of playful children, and streets filled with positive energy once again confirmed that the “FutureA” Festival is one of the most beautiful and most anticipated events of the year for the youngest residents of Konjic.

Admission to the festival is free, and it is open until 4:00 PM.
