Minister Pozder Signs Agreements for Capital Transfers
Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism, Nasiha Pozder, today signed agreements with beneficiaries who successfully applied to the public call of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism for co-financing projects titled “Capital Transfers to Other Levels of Government and Funds – Tourism Development Transfers in the Federation of BiH” for 2025.
“Through these projects, we aim to promote tourism development that is sustainable and authentic. Our goal is for every tourist destination in the Federation of BiH to have the opportunity to contribute to economic growth through quality infrastructure and the preservation of natural and cultural values. I am especially pleased that, in this way, we will support the development of specific forms of tourism, including religious and adventure tourism, as well as projects aimed at reducing seasonality and promoting our cultural, historical, and natural heritage,” said Minister Pozder.
For the Program for Co-Financing Infrastructure and Specific Tourism Development Projects, Minister Pozder today signed agreements with Hercegovačko Selo Čitluk for the project “Square of Experiences and Encounters”, Čajuša d.o.o. Kupres for the construction of a four-seater chairlift to overcome seasonality, and PBP Konjic for the development of winter tourism infrastructure on Jelica Mountain near Konjic. An agreement was also signed with the Franciscan Theology in Sarajevo for a project to build infrastructure at St. Paul’s Monastery to support the development of religious tourism.
As part of the Program for Co-Financing Projects Aimed at Sustainable Tourism Development in destinations of broader cultural, historical, and natural significance, agreements were signed for the reconstruction of picnic furniture in the Protected Landscape Konjuh, a project by the Konjic Economic Development Agency focusing on the renovation of the flooring and visual lighting communication in the Titov Bunker Museum, and a project by the Visoko Heritage Museum for the preparation of project documentation aimed at the revitalization of the medieval Čajangrad fortress.
Under the Program for Co-Financing Projects for the Acquisition of Equipment to Promote Specific Forms of Tourism, agreements were signed for the Sarajevo Ćiro Trail project by the Vučko Sarajevo Tourist Guides Association, for the Herzegovina Bike Association, which is implementing a project for the sustainable development of cycling tourism through ecosystem protection, and for the Neretva Raft-Boys Tourist Association for rafting development. An agreement was also signed with Art Servis Sarajevo for the procurement of part of the cinema-technical equipment needed to screen programs from the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival in cities and municipalities across the Federation of BiH.
We recall that Minister Pozder last week signed agreements with mayors, municipal chiefs, and local community representatives for the same programs, with the total funds for capital tourism development projects for 2025 amounting to 1,500,000 BAM.
The Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism will continue in the coming days with signing agreements with other beneficiaries, as well as for programs related to ongoing transfers for tourism development, the ministry announced.

City Library: A Workshop for Students Held in Celebration of Book Month
City Library Konjic marked October – the Month of Books – by organizing a workshop for second-grade students from the First and Second Primary Schools, dedicated to books and reading.
The session was led by writer Senka Bešlić, who, through engaging stories, highlighted the importance of books and reading in children’s development, noting that sometimes a single story or book can influence a child’s future choices or shape their character, as she explained.
The session was led by writer Senka Bešlić, who, through engaging stories, highlighted the importance of books and reading in children’s development, noting that sometimes a single story or book can influence a child’s future choices or shape their character, as she explained.
“I know how much impact a single story or a simple poem can have on a child, staying preserved in their memory, as it often guides their later thinking, career choices, or ultimately shapes their character and behavior,” said Bešlić. She added that it is very important for parents to start reading to their children from an early age.
“This emphasis on reading from an early age comes from the well-known fact that children who are read to at a young age start speaking earlier, form sentences more quickly, and develop a much wider vocabulary. As a result, such children tend to be about a year ahead of their peers in terms of ability and skills,” explained writer Senka Bešlić.
Through the interactive workshop, students showed great interest in stories, sharing that they enjoy reading Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Beauty and the Beast, and other tales. Librarian Azra Hamza Balić announced that additional workshops for students will be organized by the end of October.
“In the coming days, we will hold workshops for lower-grade students. There will be drawing and storytelling, and as always, our main theme will be books and reading — how to grow up with books and how to learn to love them. If we don’t fall in love with books at an early age, it’s uncertain whether we ever will. But the love developed then lasts a lifetime,” emphasized librarian Hamza Balić.
During the month of October, membership in the Children’s Department of the City Library Konjic is free of charge.

Book “Columns from the Darkness of the Region” by Dragan Bursać Promoted in Konjic
As part of the cultural event “Book Days Konjic 2025”, a book promotion was held in the Bosnian Room of the Konjic Public University for “Columns from the Darkness of the Region”, written by author and columnist Dragan Bursać.
The program opened with a speech by the director of the Konjic Public University, Benjamin Mušinović, who greeted the attendees and invited them to observe a minute of silence in honor of the music legend Halid Bešlić.

With Ena Osmanović moderating, the evening unfolded with powerful messages, dialogues, and reflections on the political and social processes that Bursać analyzes through his columns. “The book is a collection of columns written from 2020 to 2024, and almost into 2025. It deals with the geography of the Western Balkans, the influences that are particularly felt through Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the toxic politics known as the ‘Serbian World’ policy.”
“I came with a friend from Konjic and I have no regrets. Although the book has a darker tone and the title sounds somber, the discussion and the content of the book offered a glimmer of hope. The author reminds us that the light at the end of the tunnel is not just a phrase, but a necessity we must believe in,” said Fuad Kačapor, a visitor from Ilidža.
Dženis Macić from Konjic, who has been following Bursać’s work on social media for years, emphasized:
“I admire his dedication, especially in the environment in which he lives and works, where he is often exposed to threats. His work is one of the most important forms of resistance against attempts to undermine the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

The book promotion attracted a large number of citizens, and in addition to the featured book “Columns from the Darkness of the Region”, attendees also had access to other works by Dragan Bursać, including “PTSD Album”, “Waiting for Dylan Dog in Srebrenica”, and “The Yellow Raincoat”.

A record number of exhibitors at the 15th anniversary “Konjic Food Fest”
Tomorrow, 116 exhibitors from Konjic and various cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina will gather at SRC “Partizanovo”. Visitors can look forward to a wide variety of offerings.
On the eve of the 15th anniversary Konjic Food Fest, which will be held tomorrow, October 9, at the Partizanovo Sports and Recreation Center, we spoke with Alma Huseinbegović Radmanić, Director of the Association of Agricultural Cooperatives of Konjic. This year’s edition records a record number of registered participants, and according to the Director, interest was exceptionally high from the very first day of registration.
“The fair will open at 7:00 a.m. for exhibitors so they can set up their stands. From 9:00 a.m., the fair will be open to visitors, and the official opening ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. We are expecting 116 exhibitors across 111 tables. Of course, there will be our local producers from Konjic, as well as exhibitors from Gradiška, Kakanj, Kozarac, Mostar, Prozor, Jablanica, Visoko, Bihać, Gračanica, and other places. We have a large number of registered small businesses, women’s associations, and individual agricultural producers who operate registered farms,” said Huseinbegović Radmanić.
In addition to a rich selection of local products, this year’s visitors will once again enjoy culinary specialties prepared by students of the hospitality school, who will be cooking purely for enjoyment, without any competitive pressure.
“We have a special surprise that we’ll reveal on the day of the fair itself, and I would also like to highlight our three traditional awards: one for the most beautifully decorated stand, one for the best product display, and one for the best-packaged product. The students of the Konjic Secondary Hospitality School won’t have a stress test this time — instead, they will be cooking traditional Bosnian dishes purely for enjoyment, which both exhibitors and visitors will have the chance to taste,” emphasized the Director of the Association.
The festival also carries an important economic dimension, serving as a platform for business networking and for strengthening agricultural production and the local economy.
“Our main goal is to strengthen agricultural production. Our producers need to focus more on processing, as primary production alone is not financially sufficient for their sustainability. We’ve also had cases where we connected local agricultural producers with hospitality and tourism businesses, and both sides were extremely satisfied with the results of that cooperation,” added Huseinbegović Radmanić.
This year’s Konjic Food Fest is being held under the patronage of the City of Konjic, and a rich and engaging program is expected to attract a large number of visitors and lovers of traditional local food.

“It’s Not Me, It’s the Universe”: Humor and Social Critique in Adnan Alić’s New Play
Organized by NU Konjic, on Friday, September 19, at 8 p.m., the play “It’s Not Me, It’s the Universe”, a monodrama by Adnan Alić, will be performed at the Cinema Hall. The play, based on the work “How Beautiful My Vectra Is”, tells the story of a modern man and his everyday dilemmas.
The play combines sharp humor, irony, and subtle social critique, while Alić emphasizes that the goal is to make the audience laugh without vulgarity.
“The play is, above all, a quality comedy, without any vulgarity or insults. My goal is for people to go home after the performance in better spirits and with more laughter than when they arrived,” said Alić.
Although it is a monodrama, where it is more difficult to keep the audience’s attention, Alić handles the role excellently, despite having no personal experience with marriage. “It was very challenging for me, but I worked hard and I believe I authentically portrayed what that character truly is,” he added, sending a message to everyone who comes to see the play:
“The play ‘It’s Not Me, It’s the Universe’ offers an hour of laughter and reflection on the things that make us happy or unhappy.”

“Diverse Offer at the 19th Agricultural Days of the City of Konjic in Buturović-Polje”
“Around 50 exhibitors took part in the 19th Agricultural Days in Buturović-Polje today, showcasing agricultural products, fruit and vegetable preserves, dairy products, honey, and medicinal herbs. Most of the exhibitors came from the Neretvica area, which suffered severe damage during the flash floods in October last year. Despite this, the residents of Neretvica managed to produce high-quality products.”
“Izeta Macić, a member of the Organizing Committee of the 19th Agricultural Days of the City of Konjic in Buturović-Polje, confirmed that 46 exhibitors took part in the fair, which, according to her, exceeded expectations.”
“This is the 19th time we are holding the Agricultural Days of the City of Konjic, and this year’s fair featured 46 exhibitors, which we are very proud of. Considering the challenging weather conditions that affected this agricultural year, including drought and other adverse conditions, the number of exhibitors has exceeded our expectations.”
“Our agricultural producers showcased a wide selection of raw materials and processed products at their stands. This event plays an important role for our city, particularly for the Neretvica Valley and the local community of Neretvica. This year especially, due to the adverse weather conditions we experienced last October, namely the natural disaster of floods.”
“‘Given this situation, we need to make an even greater contribution to this event and to the agricultural producers in this area,’ Macić stated.”
“Muamer Boloban, who lives in the village of Obri, exhibited dairy products at his stand.”
“‘So far, we have been producing goat cheese, keeping sheep and goats, and the new development is that we have started cattle farming. We produce cheeses, butter, and clotted cream. We have four cows and around 200 sheep and goats. It is possible to make a living from livestock farming, of course it requires extra work, but now we also receive incentives from the City of Konjic, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,’ Muamer stated.”
“Longtime farmer Rasim Mezet from Gorana, among other things, grows tomatoes that can sometimes weigh up to one and a half kilograms.”
“‘I have been engaged in agriculture for thirty years. I come to the fair, sell a few products, meet new people, and some learn about me and come back, and everything is homemade. I attend the fair every year, and I have been a member of the Association of Agricultural Societies since its founding,’ Rasim said.”
“Ramiza Demirović, her husband Muharem, and other family members are involved in agricultural activities in the village of Obri.”
“‘We planted 1,000 tomato plants, and we have sheep, cows, chickens—everything a farmer might have. We grow for ourselves, and whatever is left over, we sell at the markets. I enjoy going to fairs so people can see what we do and that everything is homemade, not sprayed, and we also receive incentives for our apples,’ Ramiza stated.”
“The organizers also arranged a prize draw for the farmers, in which three cash vouchers were awarded. Sejdo Hakalović won a voucher worth 2,000 BAM, Mediha Hodžić received one worth 1,500 BAM, and Hamdija Kovačić received a voucher worth 1,000 BAM. They stated that they would use the money for agricultural activities.”
“As part of the agricultural fair in Buturović-Polje, sports competitions were also held, and the organizers provided prizes for the most successful participants.”

Maslać (HTZ): “This could be the most successful season in our area”
The summer tourist season is drawing to a close, and the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Tourist Board (TZ HNK) is optimistic about this year’s results.
The director of TZ HNK, Anđelko Maslać, told Radio Konjic that the entire Herzegovina region has shown strong potential this year and continues to attract more and more visitors each year.
“What sets Herzegovina apart from typical coastal destinations is perhaps the length of the main season, the pleasant weather, the welcoming people, and the good hosts. Year after year, we record steady growth in the number of tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as foreign visitors, who keep coming back because they feel a certain love for the entire Herzegovina region,” said Maslać.
“As for this summer’s peak season, everything is going well, and I believe this might even turn out to be the most successful season in our area in recent times, but we will talk more about that at the very end of the year.”
The statistical data on the number of visits is not yet available.
The problem, Maslać noted, lies in the lack of an integrated visitor registration system.
“I have to say that we are working on establishing that system somehow. In addition to the cantonal one, we now have tourist boards in Mostar, Čitluk, Neum, and Ravno, and three years ago the option to establish tourist boards at the local level was reinstated. Now, we are all trying to set up a unified system that will literally track every movement of tourists, so we know where they come from, how long they stay, and what their preferences are when visiting Herzegovina. Unfortunately, up until now we haven’t really had reliable statistics, since there is also a lot of activity in the ‘gray zone.’ Many people have rented out accommodation without registering their guests in our ‘Prijava.ba’ program, which is now being revived. The data we have is not one hundred percent accurate, but we still need to compile statistics and make use of the information available to us,” said Maslać.
Tourists come to the Herzegovina region from all parts of the world.
“Tourists from neighboring countries, Croatia and Serbia, are in the lead, but we also see significant numbers from Turkey, Poland, France, Italy, and Slovenia, as well as from other Central and Western European countries. I can freely say that we are encouraged by the fact that the visitor profile is quite diverse. Recently, we have also had tourists coming from distant parts of the world. I hope that the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Tourist Board contributes to this, since we regularly take part in domestic tourism fairs, as well as regional and international ones, where we present the tourist offer of our municipalities and cities to potential visitors,” said Maslać.
The Herzegovina region is a major tourist destination.
“We have three main ‘hotspots’: Mostar, Neum, and Međugorje, but I should also emphasize that our other municipalities and towns, such as Konjic, Čapljina, Jablanica, Stolac, and Ravno, are by no means lagging behind. Their progress is evident as they increasingly invest in tourism and attract visitors. Konjic has established itself as a center for adventure tourism thanks to the Neretva River and surrounding mountains (outdoor tourism); Čapljina is becoming more visited due to the Hutovo Blato Nature Park, the Trebižat River, and Počitelj; Jablanica draws nature and hiking enthusiasts; Stolac is rich in cultural and historical heritage; and Ravno is increasingly showcasing its potential through wine tourism offerings and the unmissable Vjetrenica Cave.”
Road and air connectivity for tourism development
“I believe this is partly due to our improved road connectivity, but ultimately also better air connections, as we know that recently Mostar Airport has been seeing an increasing number of flights and arrivals of foreign visitors. It seems they are projecting over 80,000 arrivals this year, which is quite a significant number; for comparison, just a few years ago they had only a few thousand. I think that the planned, continuous growth in all these segments is gradually contributing to better tourist attendance in our region,” said TZ HNK director Anđelko Maslać.
Tourism is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world. The entire Herzegovina region has resources that can be further developed.
“Many of the innovations being introduced in this sector in our region create the possibility that in the coming years, we will be able to compete with European tourist regions,” said Maslać.

“Konjic Summer”: Adi Šoše Performed an Excellent Concert
Adi Šoše held a concert in Konjic tonight, and with his performance once again confirmed his status as one of the most popular young singers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The performer from Mostar thrilled the audience with his energetic show, performing both his own songs and hits by older colleagues. Upbeat songs and ballads alternated throughout the evening, and the joyful atmosphere of this summer night lasted until the very end of the concert.
The concert was held on the square in front of Konjic High School, organized by the Public Institution National University of Konjic as part of “Konjic Summer” and the Diaspora Days “Konjic in the Heart of BiH,” under the patronage of the City of Konjic. It was attended by a large number of Konjic residents of all generations, locals living abroad, as well as guests from other cities.
“I haven’t performed in Konjic for a long time, and I didn’t know what to expect, but the crowd was amazing. My audience is growing, and now it ranges from ages 15 to 78. Performing in Konjic means a lot to me, because I have family here and I’m a frequent guest in this town. Konjic was the last stop of my summer tour,” said Šoše, who is now heading on vacation.
Manda Stojanović from Zagreb enjoyed the concert together with her friends.
“We came from Zagreb to visit family in Konjic. It’s wonderful, and we were pleasantly surprised. This was our first time attending an event like this in Konjic,” Manda told us.

Konjička Sehara: 25 Years of Tradition, Encounters, and Folklore Splendor
With dances, songs, and costumes from various parts of the world, the jubilee “Konjička Sehara” gathered hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators – celebrating a tradition that unites generations and cultures.
With dances, songs, and costumes from different parts of the world, the jubilee “Konjička Sehara” brought together hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators – celebrating a tradition that bridges generations and cultures.
As part of the “Konjic Summer” event and the Diaspora Days “Konjic in the Heart of BiH,” the 25th Konjička Sehara, an international festival of folklore creativity and one of the most visited events in Konjic, was held before a full audience at the Partizanovo Business and Sports Center.
This jubilee gathering brought together cultural and artistic societies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as guests from Turkey, Albania, Poland, Romania, Croatia, and Northern Cyprus, who treated the audience to an evening rich in traditional dances, music, and the vibrant colors of their cultures.
At the very start of the program, following the parade through the town and the ceremonial review, the hosts from the Bosniak Cultural Community “Preporod” Konjic welcomed the attendees. They have been organizing this festival for 25 years under the patronage of the City of Konjic, with the support of the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, the HNC Tourist Board, and the event’s partner – Sparkasse Bank.
The program opened with performances by the youngest members of “Preporod,” symbolically showing that cultural heritage is being passed on to new generations. Throughout the evening, ensembles from various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Donji Vakuf, Visoko, Hadžići, Jablanica, Tuzla, Sarajevo, Mostar, Kiseljak, Gornji Vakuf, and Podveležje – took turns on stage, along with international guests who arrived in Konjic from Łęczyca, Ankara, Durrës, Nedelišće, as well as from Romania and Northern Cyprus.
In addition to the folklore performances, the audience had the opportunity to enjoy the musical part of the program with young Konjic native Ajdin Sultić, who performed a traditional sevdalinka.
Konjička Sehara is not just a folklore festival, but a symbol of unity, connection, and cultural exchange.
The organizers expressed special thanks to Mayor Osman Ćatić, the City of Konjic, the cantonal authorities, and the partners who continuously support this and other cultural events, making Konjic a hub of cultural activities in the region.
At the end of the evening, with a message of gratitude to all guests and visitors, the next event as part of “Konjic Summer” was announced – a concert by Adi Šoša, which will be held on Saturday, August 9, on the plaza in front of the High School.
