Next week marks the beginning of the 24th Festival of Secondary School Dramatic Creativity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is an event that has been bringing together young theatre creators from across the country for more than two decades. Organized by the Amateur Theatre “Neretva” Konjic, the Festival continues year after year to affirm its importance as a platform for developing young talent and nurturing the art of theatre.
During the Festival, AP “Neretva” and the town of Konjic become a place of meeting, dialogue, and gathering for young people from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Festival provides young artists with the opportunity to present their work, meet their peers, exchange ideas, build new friendships, and, through art, speak about contemporary themes, challenges, and the world around them. It is precisely this encounter of young people—their perspectives and energy—that makes the Festival a unique and invaluable experience for all participants and audiences alike. In this way, AP “Neretva” becomes more than just a host; it transforms into a space where new stories, inspirations, collaborations, and friendships are created—ones that go beyond the stage.
This year’s festival program offers a diverse selection of performances resulting from the dedicated work of drama groups and their mentors. The audience can look forward to a total of 13 plays, with participants coming from Bijeljina, Živinice, Derventa, Livno, Bugojno, Kakanj, Zavidovići, Sarajevo, Tešanj, Tuzla, Žepče, and Konjic.
The selection of performances for this year’s edition of the Festival is curated by Armin Filipović, Master of Arts and actor, a former member of the Festival’s expert jury, workshop leader, and ensemble member of the National Theatre Mostar.
After careful consideration of the submitted applications, the following performances have been selected for the program of the 24th Festival of Secondary School Dramatic Creativity of Bosnia and Herzegovina:

The Festival will be held from April 17 to 24, and the official program will be announced in the coming days. The best performances will be decided by an expert jury composed of Damir Kustura, Saša Peševski, and Emina Šehić—distinguished theatre professionals who will, through workshops and roundtable discussions, contribute with their knowledge and experience to the evaluation and appreciation of the work of young artists.

The play “Offline” captivated the audience in Konjic: Theatre as a safe space for difficult topics
The play “Offline” was performed this evening at the cinema hall of the National University in Konjic. It was produced by Studio Teatar and the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, in partnership with the amateur theatre “Neretva” Konjic. The guest performance was organized as part of a major theatre tour across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The play is based on a text by Ahmed Imamović and directed by Lana Delić, and is distinctive for featuring a cast that combines professional actors with young talents. The performers included Enes Salković, Adna Kaknjo, Mirza Bajramović, Lamija Salihović, Selma Ćosić, Aida Vehabović, and Almir Nakić.
Mirza Bajramović: “The audience’s reactions are deeply emotional.”
Actor Mirza Bajramović expressed particular pleasure at returning to Konjic, a city that has held special significance for him since his high school days.
“I am always happy to come to Konjic. This hall holds special memories for me because of the High School Drama Festival. I am glad that AP ‘Neretva’ is a partner on this project. Konjic is the fifth stop on our tour, and the audience’s reactions in Goražde, Prnjavor, Bugojno, and Jajce have been excellent,” Bajramović said.
He emphasizes that the play opens an important dialogue, especially with parents, who are often unaware of the dangers on social media.
“The audience reacts very emotionally. After each performance, a discussion develops that shows how deeply the story has affected them. Our focus is on the teenage population, but also on parents, who are often on the sidelines when it comes to what happens in the digital world. Performing for a smaller audience allows us to convey the story directly to them,” Bajramović concluded.
Aida Vehabović: “The stage has given me the strength to speak out about violence.”
Young actress Aida Vehabović, who is also familiar with the Konjic stage from her amateur days, shared her personal and powerful experience working on this project.
“The interaction with the audience fascinates me. People open up emotionally; in one city, a young woman approached us and publicly admitted that she had been a victim of violence and that the theatre helped her speak out. That connection is incredible,” Vehabović said.
Aida also spoke openly about how this role has helped her in her personal healing process:
“This story is closely connected to my own life, as I too have been a victim of violence. On stage, I feel free to speak about topics I couldn’t address for years. Now I do it publicly, either through my character or as Aida Vehabović. It is a great honor, after years of amateur work, to stand shoulder to shoulder with professionals in a project that liberates both us on stage and the audience in the hall.”
Ena Osmanović, president of the amateur theatre “Neretva” Konjic, spoke about the importance of the collaboration and the project itself.
“It is a great honor for us that the amateur theatre ‘Neretva’ has become part of a broader, global story. We are one of eight theatres given the opportunity to work on this project. We are especially proud that our young members participated in the creation process of the play – through workshops, they brought their personal experiences to the stage. We are all extremely pleased with the result and with the project ahead of us,” Osmanović stated.
After the performance, an interactive discussion with the audience was held. Attendees had the opportunity to share their impressions, ask questions to the cast, and express their own perspectives on the issues addressed in “Offline” – from digital safety to peer violence.
Tonight, Konjic was added to the map of the major Bosnian-Herzegovinian tour of the play “Offline.” Through participation in the project “We Can Do Better,” the theatre once again confirmed its role as a key driver in initiating important social change and dialogue.
The play “Offline” continues its journey through cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, carrying a powerful message about the importance of open communication, mutual understanding, and the uncompromising fight against all forms of violence in the modern age.
After a successful performance and the exceptionally warm reception from the Konjic audience, the cast of the play continues its mission. In the coming period, residents of Teslić, Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje, and Kalesija will have the opportunity to watch this striking production and participate in discussions on topics that concern us all.

Trans Dinarica – a new opportunity for sustainable tourism and the development of Konjic
The City of Konjic participates as a partner in the project TRANSDINARICA2 – “Transformation with Trans Dinarica – Phase 2”, which is being implemented within the EU Interreg Danube Region Programme.
The project is developing the first long-distance cycling route in the Dinaric Alps (3,300+ km), connecting natural attractions and local communities across the Western Balkans, with an important link to the well-known Alpe–Adria cycling route, further enhancing the region’s international visibility and accessibility.
The route passes through spectacular mountain landscapes, authentic villages, rivers, and protected natural areas, offering a unique experience of active and sustainable tourism. A special focus is placed on discovering lesser-known destinations, directly strengthening local communities and supporting their development.
The goal of the project is to develop sustainable cycling tourism, strengthen local economies, and promote authentic destinations across the region.
Of particular importance are the support hub centers along the route—places where cyclists can receive information, technical and logistical support, as well as recommendations for local attractions. These centers connect travelers with local communities and enhance the overall quality of the travel experience.
In addition to presenting the project itself, an analysis of the tourism situation in Konjic was presented, in collaboration with the Agency for Economic Development “PRVI KORAK” Ltd. and the Institute for Progress and Development of Herzegovina, serving as an important foundation for further development of the tourism offer, strategic planning, and destination enhancement.
For Konjic, this project represents an important step forward in strengthening the tourism offer and positioning the town as a destination for active and sustainable tourism, with an emphasis on the Neretva River, the surrounding mountains, and authentic experiences.

Studio Teatar and the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, in partnership with the Amateur Theatre “Neretva” Konjic, will present the play “Offline” in Konjic on April 8 at 7:00 PM as part of their theatre tour in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The play “Offline,” based on a text by Ahmed Imamović and directed by Lana Delić, was produced by Studio Teatar in collaboration with the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica. The cast features both professional actors and young talents.
“Offline” represents an artistic call for a return to empathy and genuine understanding in a world that often forgets the weight of spoken or written words, emphasizing our collective responsibility to maintain peace in both digital and real spaces, according to Studio Teatar.
Premiered on March 30 at the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, the play “Offline” will travel through eight partner cities and municipalities, presenting a story about online violence, family relationships, and the contemporary challenge of balancing real and virtual identities.
The repeat performance in Konjic is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 7:00 PM in the Cinema Hall of the Community Center in Konjic, and admission is free.
The cast of the play includes: Enes Salković, Adna Kaknjo, Mirza Bajramović, Lamija Salihović, Selma Ćosić, Aida Vehbović, and Almir Nakić.

The project is jointly implemented by the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Nations in BiH, the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Council of Europe – Office in Sarajevo.

Konjic: The Francophonie Days Officially Opened
In Konjic, the Francophonie Days were officially opened tonight, marking the first time this town has become part of the major international celebration of the French language, culture, and arts.
The program began with a performance of the play “Eight Women” by Robert Thomas, directed by Inas Gačanin, and performed by the Youth Stage of the Amateur Theatre “Neretva” in Konjic. The play was staged in the cinema hall of the Community Center in Konjic, where the audience had the opportunity to enjoy an intriguing and suspenseful story set within an enclosed family space, filled with secrets, doubts, and unexpected twists.
After the play, an exhibition titled “French Cinema Through Posters” was held at the Gallery of the Public Institution “Narodni univerzitet” in Konjic, based on archival materials from the cinema. This exhibition provided a unique insight into the rich history of French filmmaking and its visual identity.
The event was officially opened by the director of the French Institute, Loe Lagrange, with speeches by the president of the Amateur Theatre “Neretva” Konjic, Ena Osmanović, and the director of the Public Institution “Narodni univerzitet” Konjic, Benjamin Mušinović, who emphasized the importance of such events for the cultural development of the local community and the strengthening of international cooperation.

Newly Discovered Necropolis of Medieval Tombstones in Zabrđani near Bjelimići
In the village of Zabrđani, in the Bjelimići area, a previously unrecorded necropolis of medieval tombstones has been discovered, representing a significant contribution to the research and preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of Konjic.
As Emir Medanhodžić, president of the Čuvari baštine – Bassania Foundation, told Radio Konjic, the site is located in the immediate vicinity of the road, yet despite this, it remained unknown to earlier researchers.
“This is the village of Zabrđani, and what particularly surprised us is the fact that the necropolis is located only about three hundred meters from the road, next to a small Orthodox cemetery and a chapel. Precisely because the area is enclosed, it was probably not the subject of earlier research. When we entered and surveyed the site, we saw that it is a beautiful necropolis with around 40 medieval tombstones, mostly slabs and chests, although it is partially damaged,” emphasized Emir Medanhodžić, adding that they received information about the necropolis site from a resident of Glavatičevo.
“We have an excellent associate from Glavatičevo, Emin Hebibović, who knows the terrain very well. I myself have been in that area countless times, especially in Bjelimići, and we are always looking for new challenges. A few days ago, Emin told us that he had found a new necropolis that had not been recorded, so we went together to survey it,” said Emir Medanhodžić.
Medieval tombstone and their historical value
Speaking about the age and significance of the medieval tombstone Emir Medanhodžić notes that they date back to the Middle Ages and are characterized by their orientation and modest ornamentation.
“The medieval tombstones at this site, like most in Bosnia and Herzegovina, date from the period between the 10th and 15th centuries. They mostly lack elaborate decorations, although we noticed on one example a motif that could indicate a connection to the Bosnian Church. Unfortunately, in our country, methods such as thermoluminescence or broader use of C14 analysis, which could more precisely determine their age, are still not sufficiently developed,” explains Emir Medanhodžić.
Necropolises of Medieval Tombstones Have Tourism Potential
In order to protect and promote these valuable sites, the Foundation plans to implement a series of activities that will facilitate access and familiarize the public with the necropolises.
“We received a European Union project to install information boards and signposts for ten necropolises of medieval tombstones in Glavatičevo and ten necropolises in Bjelimići. We selected the most beautiful necropolises and are now determining where to place the signposts. We also planned the creation of digital and printed maps. We have already collected the GPS coordinates of the sites, and our goal is to enable visitors to easily find these necropolises and not get lost in the field. This is just the beginning, and we hope the project will be further expanded in the future,” said Emir Medanhodžić.
He also emphasizes the broader importance of preserving cultural heritage, especially in the context of local community development.
“Cultural and historical heritage can be an important resource for the development of the local economy. If properly valorized, it can create opportunities for small businesses, tourism development, and additional income for the local population. Our goal is to raise awareness of the values we have and how we can use them in a sustainable way,” said Emir Medanhodžić.
The discovery of a new necropolis in Zabrđani once again confirms that the Konjic area is rich in valuable historical sites and highlights the need for their systematic protection and promotion, so that they can be preserved for future generations and properly presented to both domestic and international audiences.

Konjic Summer Fest 2026, featuring a range of sports activities, is once again bringing together sports and entertainment enthusiasts from around the world.
Yesterday, a meeting was held in Konjic during which Mahir Mujić, director of the AK Pace Konjic, presented the club’s plans and key activities for 2026 to the mayor of Konjic, Osman Ćatić.
As Mujić stated, the Konjic Summer Fest, which will be held from July 3 to 5, 2026, will offer all guests a rich program, including five races bringing together amateurs, professionals, and families, as well as two major music events. On the opening day of Konjic Summer Fest, July 3, Peđa Medenica and Belma Karšić will perform, while on July 4, the program features a concert by Dženan Lončarević.
At the meeting, the importance of continuous cooperation between the local community and sports organizations was highlighted, with the aim of further developing Konjic as a recognized destination for sports tourism and high-quality international events.

Konjic, through the “TransDinarica 2” project, aims to extend tourists’ stays and improve the tourism offer.
Today in Konjic, organized by the City of Konjic and the Economic Development Agency “PRVI KORAK” d.o.o. Konjic, in cooperation with the Institute for Progress and Development of Herzegovina, a presentation of the “TransDinarica 2” project was held titled “Transformation with TransDinarica 2: Analysis of the Tourism Situation and Definition of Priority Measures for the Improvement of Sustainable Tourism in Konjic.”
“TransDinarica 2” is an international project aimed at developing sustainable tourism in the Dinarides, a mountain range that stretches across several Balkan countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina. The City of Konjic actively participates as a partner in this project,” said Ajla Greda, Direc tor of the Economic Development Agency “PRVI KORAK” Konjic. She emphasized that the goal of the project is to improve the destination’s tourism offer, strengthen cooperation with local stakeholders from the area of the City of Konjic, as well as more broadly, and to develop infrastructure and facilities tailored to cycling tourism.
“Through the project activities, Konjic has the opportunity to further position its natural and cultural resources—especially the Neretva River, mountain landscapes, and authentic experiences—as an attractive destination for active and sustainable tourism,” Greda emphasized. 🌿🚴♂️
At today’s presentation, opportunities for improving sustainable tourism and strengthening the competitiveness of Konjic as a tourist destination were discussed.
“Today’s presentation and workshop were an opportunity to exchange different ideas. We had a constructive discussion and the chance to hear various proposals from all present stakeholders for a joint approach and the improvement of tourism development in the area of the City of Konjic in the coming period,” Greda added.
Marko Ćapin from the Institute for Progress and Development of Herzegovina spoke about the number of visitors to Konjic as a tourist destination, presenting data from the Federal Institute of Statistics for 2024.
“As for the current figures, these are the data we received from the Federal Institute of Statistics. They refer to 2024, since the final results for 2025 are usually published in March or April. In 2024, a total of 10,159 registered arrivals and 17,026 overnight stays were recorded, while the average length of stay was 1.7 nights. Also, 57.6 percent of surveyed visitors come without staying overnight, which means that Konjic is still largely a transit destination,” Ćapin said.
During the implementation of the project, special attention should be given to the preservation of natural resources, emphasized Đorđe Stefanović, Executive Director of the ecological association “Dinarica.”
“This must be done with great care—on one hand, there is the desire to develop the economy and generate income, which is completely understandable, but on the other hand, we must not overburden nature. The main idea is to connect nature and people,” Stefanović emphasized. He added that renowned institutions and organizations from across the region, including Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro, have worked on the project.
“It takes a bit of wisdom, time, and attention to gather all the good experiences and suggestions, and then, together with the local community, develop solutions that will enable quality tourism development with minimal impact on nature,” Stefanović concluded.
The conclusion of the discussion participants was that Konjic has significant potential for implementing such projects, with the active involvement of all local community stakeholders—from institutions and tourism professionals to associations and local residents. It was also highlighted that the development of sustainable tourism through projects like “TransDinarica” can contribute to better promotion of Konjic’s natural and cultural assets, extend tourists’ stays, and create new opportunities for local economic development.

AP “Neretva”: “Culture for All – Repeat Performance of the Play ‘Forest Fairy Tale’.”
On Thursday, March 5, 2026, organized by the Amateur Theatre “Neretva” Konjic, a repeat performance of the play “Forest Fairy Tale” was held for students from regional and remote schools in the Konjic area.
“The repeat performance of this play was primarily intended for students from regional and remote schools who often have limited access to cultural content. With the support of local transport companies, we provided students and teaching staff with free transportation and free entry to the performance. We hope that organizing events of this kind, in cooperation with the principals of primary schools, will become our regular activity and that every child in this city will watch at least one of our plays and learn the basic theatre etiquette,” said the director of the play and president of the Amateur Theatre “Neretva” Konjic, Ena Osmanović.
Students from the regional schools Ribići, Lisičići, Orahovica, Idbar, and Grabovci, which operate within the central primary school “Čelebići,” had the opportunity before the start of the performance to become familiar with the theatre facilities, take a look behind the scenes, learn how a play is created, and experience the magic of theatre firsthand.
In addition to the students from the previously mentioned schools, the performance was also enjoyed by students from the regional schools Bradina, Podorašac, Spiljani, Bijela, Repovci, Parsovići, and Gorani, as well as by students from two first-grade classes of the central First Primary School.
This activity is the result of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation with representatives of JU Primary School “Čelebići,” JU Primary School “Parsovići,” JU “Second Primary School” Konjic, and JU “First Primary School” Konjic. Through this partnership with the schools, Amateur Theatre “Neretva” will work throughout the entire school year to ensure that students from regional and remote schools have more opportunities to attend performances, workshops, and other activities, and to participate more actively in the cultural life of the community.

Registrations are now open for the “Bingo konjički cener.”
The international three-day festival of sports, culture, entertainment, and tourism, “Konjic Summer Fest,” will this year be held from July 3 to 5 as part of the “Konjic Summer” event. The festival is organized by the Athletic Club Pace Konjic, under the patronage of the City of Konjic.
This year’s announcement focuses on the opening of registrations for the festival’s main sports event—the Bingo Konjic Cener—which are already available through the festival’s new online platform, www.kfs.ba. The first 100 participants will secure the most favorable registration package.
The festival’s director and organizer, Mahir Mujić, emphasizes that the festival continues to grow year by year while maintaining its distinctive concept.
“We have officially opened registrations for the Eighth International ‘Konjic Summer Fest,’ which will be held from July 3 to 5. The festival’s format remains recognizable—on the first day we have the BH Telecom business race, while the second day is reserved for the ‘Bingo Konjic Cener,’ for which registrations are already open on our new platform. This year, the course brings some novelties—it includes the newly built bridge over the Neretva near the high-rise and the promenade along both riverbanks, through which we aim to further promote the city’s beauty. Within the Cener, we are also introducing a new ‘Fun Run’ of 3.3 kilometers, designed for everyone—from children to recreational runners. We are confident that this year the festival will once again attract a large number of participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad, confirming its importance in promoting Konjic,” said Mujić.
The eighth edition of the festival confirms the continuous growth of this event, which, through sports, socializing, and a rich accompanying program, contributes to promoting Konjic as an attractive tourist destination and strengthening the local community.
