Preparations have begun for the organization of the “European Rafting Championship Konjic 2024”, which will be held from June 10 to 15, 2024, organized by the World Rafting Federation and sponsored by the City of Konjic.

On this occasion, the Vice President of the World Rafting Federation Boris Purjakov who is also the President of the Rafting Association of Serbia was in Konjic, who together with the director of the Konjic 2024 European Rafting Championship, Samir Krivić, visited the locations on the Neretva River where the competition will take place.
“This is something that has been prepared for many years and now the circumstances are such that we can realize it. There is still a lot to do, but we at the World Rafting Federation believe that this competition will be at the highest level. The president of the World Rafting Federation, Danilo Barmaz, will also come to Konjic” – said Purjakov, pointing out that they are familiar with the potential offered by Konjic and the Neretva River.
Samir Krivić said that the competition will be held in 3 disciplines.
“Descent, due to its attractiveness for the citizens, will be held from village Džajići to the Old bridge, the slalom race will be in the Džajić buk area, where a slalom course will be made, and the third discipline is a race of two boats competing in parallel. In addition, we will organize a business regatta for numerous dignitaries” – said Krivić, adding that this is a significant event that will bring great benefits, not only for the City of Konjic, but also for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its promotion.
Boris Purjakov, who has attended all the World Rafting Championships for the past 15 years, said that everything that has been prepared so far for the competition on the Neretva gives the possibility for Konjic to apply for the organization of the World Rafting Championship.

Open annual call for applications/grants through the Small Grants Fund in cooperation with municipalities/cities and implemented by the USAID Diaspora Invest Project
The Call was opened in cooperation with the City of Konjic, as one of the partner Local Self-Government Units, with the aim of encouraging direct investments in cooperation with the diaspora.
An SME, as an applicant, can be a startup or an established company that has been operating for a maximum of three years (0 to 3 years) at the time of submitting the grant application.
The submitted grant/grant application should meet the investment to investment ratio of at least 1:1.
The focus is on co-financing investments in basic assets for business in BiH with the support of the diaspora.
All grants awarded under this Public Call will support common goals:
- Increase direct investments of the diaspora
- Support the creation of new jobs
- Promote business growth, as indicated by sales and/or exports
- Introduce new products and services to domestic and international markets
Grants will be distributed depending on available funds, ranging from 15,000.00 BAM to 70,000.00 BAM for a maximum implementation period of 18 months.
The call is open until September 21, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

USAID Tourism invites micro and small businesses in Bosnia and Herzegovina to apply for an individualized mentoring program with the aim of strengthening their business through specialized support aimed at increasing sales and improving their presence on digital platforms and social networks. This program is ideal for companies that strive to grow and want to expand their business in the digital space.
The Call is open to all micro and small businesses operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina, however, in order to further promote and support local initiatives that contribute to the development and enrichment of the tourist offer of Bosnia and Herzegovina, preference in the selection process will be given to those businesses that are actively involved in the initiatives Herzegovina Wine Roads (HWR) and Most Beautiful Villages of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MBV).
Participants in the mentoring program will have access to a range of resources and expert advice tailored to their challenges and needs. The program is designed to provide participants with the tools and knowledge needed for effective online promotion of their services and products, and the use of social networking platforms to attract a wider audience.

13th International Chess Tournament “Konjic Open 2024”.
In the period from February 29th, until 3rd March 2024, and on the occasion of marking March 1, the Independence Day of BiH and March 3, the Day of Liberation of Konjic from Fascism, Konjic will be the venue for the 13th international chess tournament “Konjic Open 2024”.
As part of the tournament, a fast-paced tournament “Memory of Master Adi Kosovac” will be held.
All players have the right to participate, regardless of Fide rating.
The organizer of this tournament is the “Igman” chess club from Konjic, and the tournament will be held at the Garden City Hotel Konjic.
So far, 103 players from 11 countries have registered, so Konjic will be the center of the chess public in the coming days.
Applications for this important event will be possible until February 29, 2024. year.

Tambourine band ,,Narona” delighted the audience
The audience enjoyed tonight listening to and singing folks hits, old town songs and sevdalinka. Among the visitors was Rizah Bećirbegović from Sarajevo with his wife.
„This is our first time here and it’s amazing. We heard that tambourines were playing tonight and that’s why we came. There should be always events like this” – stated Rizah.
Zoran Andrić, a vocal soloist of the ,,Narona”, after the concert said they are very satisfied.
„It was good with a lot of people and I think they are satisfied. This year’s event is of better quality, the rhythm is already being picked up, and I hope that it will be good in the future, getting better and better every year. It was great and thanks to the City of Konjic for the organization, as well as to the others” – Andrić stated wishing listeners of Radio Konjic all best in 2024.

Hotel “Han Jelica” officially opened
At the beginning of 2024, on Mountain Jelica, which is 15 kilometers from Konjic, the Hotel “Han Jelica” was opened, which is a new business unit of the company PBP Ltd. Konjic, which has been engaged in catering for more than a decade, operating with two restaurants and one hotel in Konjic.
The new hotel we opened today is our biggest challenge so far and a new beginning. Bearing in mind the potential offered by our city of Konjic for the development of tourism, this project is the first in our area to be designed as a hotel and restaurant with a ski slope. We all know that Konjic, in addition to the beautiful Neretva, also has very beautiful mountains, so we decided on the Jelica mountain, which provides ideal conditions for the realization of our idea – said Muhamed Novalić, director of the PBP company, inviting the guests to visit the Jelica mountain.
Novalić, clarifying that the Hotel “Han Jelica”, which has 14 modernly equipped accommodation units, is located on the road and intersection to Blatačko jezero, Lukomir and Čuhoviće, emphasized that it is a real paradise for mountain lovers, because in the coming period in the immediate vicinity of the facility, guests can use a 300-meter-long ski track with a ski lift, which is ideal for beginners and children.
Our wish and intention was to, among other things, create the opportunity and conditions for our children from Konjic to learn to ski without having to go further than our city. We hope that fellow citizens, as well as all guests of Konjic, will recognize and appreciate the effort we put into this hotel – said Muhamed Novalić.

He welcomes any progress in terms of expanding accommodation capacities, especially in mountainous areas, which have a great development perspective when it comes to tourism and the enrichment of the tourist offer. I congratulate the management on the continuous introduction of new products within its business and monitoring the needs of both domestic and foreign guests. All this inspires hope that space is being opened for a new type of tourist offer in the area of Konjic, which in the future will have a chance to expand and some new tourist products – said the mayor of Konjic, Osman Ćatić, welcoming such activities of Konjic businessmen.
