Tonight, in addition to a good concert, the visitors enjoyed hot tea and sweets, prepared by the members of the “Neretva” Konjic scouts troop.
“We wanted to contribute so much to this event and this was the least we could do. We did it from the heart and we are all happy to warm ourselves with this scout tea” – said Selma Hadžihusejnović, head of the “Neretva” Konjic Scouts Troop.
The association SIN “Neretvica” also contributed to the “Winter City” event. At their stand, visitors could taste roasted chestnuts for free.
“Tonight, all visitors could enjoy the smell and taste of roasted chestnuts, which we roasted here on the spot.” We roasted about 70 kg of chestnuts,” said Refik Boloban, a member of the Management Board of the SIN “Neretvica” Association.
The City of Konjic organizes the event “Winter City” in partnership with the National University, the Sports Hall, the Youth Council and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Environmental Protection of the Croatian National Academy of Sciences. Orhan Tucović, the head of the mayor’s office, attended the opening of the event, saying that he was happy about the atmosphere tonight.
“We have a beautifully decorated space tonight, local musicians, kids, which is the most important thing. It is important that there are smiles, good will and that everyone is enjoying themselves. If it’s like tonight, we’ll be happy. We want to have that tradition, primarily for the sake of the citizens of Konjic, but also for the sake of tourists, guests from the diaspora, to show that we are a city that nurtures tourism even during the winter period,” Tucović said.
This year, the City of Konjic provided free transportation for residents from rural areas during this year’s event, which continues tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. on the square near the City Administration, where elementary schools from the City of Konjic will hold a program called “Snow Magic.”

Performed play “Fešta”
Last night in Konjic, as part of the “Heritage Theater 2023” event, with the support of the Foundation for Music, Fine and Performing Arts in Sarajevo and the City of Konjic, starting at 7:30 p.m., was performed the play “Fešta” by the “Exit” Theater from Zagreb.
The comedy “Fešta” is the author’s project of Josipa Anković and Josip Ledina, written during the fifth year of study at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb.
“We wrote the text ourselves, directed it ourselves and performed the play “Fešta” ourselves, which was our exam in the fifth year. The day after the exam, at the academy, people from the profession came from Zagreb, they saw the play, the director of the Exit Theater, Matko Raguž, came and decided that he wanted to include the play in the repertoire of the theater” – said Ledina, adding that the play “Fešta ” presented the relationship between a young married couple in a humorous but also realistic way.
Recalling the beginnings of their love, Josip and Josip take us through a short history of their relationship, full of ups and downs. They don’t want to hide anything, they will share every detail of their relationship without any reservations. Telling their story, they fall into the most different, but very recognizable traps of their life together, but they will set the biggest trap for each other right in front of us. By making fun of our love, marriage and gender relations, “Fešta” dissolves numerous stereotypes that we are often not even aware of, but it also directs its critical edge at the society that only recognizes the law of brothers and godfathers.
The play questions not only the relationship between the young married couple, but also the relationship between the actor and the audience. Constantly involving the audience in stage events, it skillfully balances on the border of illusion and reality and turns into a full-blooded event.
The actor Ledina has visited the city of Konjic before, because his mother is originally from Konjic. Some of the series in which the young actor Ledina has acted so far are “Black and White World”, “Dar Mar”, he acted in the film “The Sixth Bus”, and he also played in plays in Kerempuh, Exit and Teatro ITD, the film “The Sixth Bus” and others.
The play “Fešta” was performed at the end of the “Heritage Theater 2023” project.

Presentation of writers’ creativity and Hommage to writer Hadžem Hajdarević
Last night, a Literary evening was held in the Bosnian room of the National University of Konjic, organized by the SIN Neretvice Association in cooperation with the City of Konjic.
At the beginning of the evening, the president of the SIN Neretvica Association, Salih Mustafić, and the coordinator and moderator of the evening, Bajro Perva, welcomed the attendees.
In the program, writers from Konjic and other Bosnia and Herzegovina cities presented their prose and poetic works: Zehra Šljivo, Mirnela Salihović, Suvada Poturović, Azemina Sultanić, Alaga Ajdinović, Šaćir Hrnjica, Ibro Hero, Meliha Hebibović, Ibrahim Turak and Bajro Perva, and the aphoristic Ekrem Macić, Aziz Nuhić and Tarik Jakubović.
“I hope that this Literary Evening was better than all the previous ones and that we slowly “cross over” the Jablanica Lake, that is, the Neretva and give it a wider significance than the local and native” – said Bajro Perva.
“Wonderful experience, it’s a great honor and pleasure for me to be a part of this evening and make my contribution” – said Mirnela Salihović from Visoko.
“A nice literary evening in which amateur poets showed their creativity and I hope the audience had something to hear. A few songs, a little prose, a few anecdotes from our humorists, a nice story and I hope that as part of the “Day of Neretvica” and next year we will have an event like this” – said Ibrahim Turak.
“We had a modest gathering about the written word. There were writers from the area of Konjica, as well as guests that Bajro Perva brought among us so that together, each of us would say something that would interest the audience. I think that such gatherings should take place in a shorter period. Given that we live in a gloomy time, through the poetic part, through the written word, we can return to the normality of life, as it should be” – stated Ibro Hero.
As part of the Literary Evening, a Hommage to the writer Hadžem Hajdarević, who died on December 4, 2023, was held. Bajro Perva, Selman Selhanović and Alija Muminović spoke about their friend and colleague.
“When we say Hadžem Hajdarević, then we have to go through in our heads the great literary and poetic opus of the man’s creativity, who worked tirelessly from the early seventies until ten days ago. Hadžem Hajdarević was a lover of the written word, of the culture of memory, and he left his mark on the time in which he lived, created, and sang. Hadžem sang from the depths of his soul, he loved his Tjentište, Sutjeska, Drina, he loved Bosnia” – said Muminović.

Last night’s event concluded this year’s “Days of Neretvica” manifestation, which, organized by the Native Association for the Protection of Historical Monuments and Cultural Heritage of Neretvica Konjic (SIN Neretvica), included a series of different events: a trip from the confluence to the source of Neretvica, a trip to Velike Vode, traditional way of collecting grass – Kosci in Blazine, Večer bećarca i gange, Kestenijada.

Promotion of the book “From Revolution to Exile – studies and Essays from Bosnian Literature”
Last night, Prof. Ph.D. Dijana Hadžizukić promoted the book “From Revolution to Exile – Studies and Experiments in Bosnian Literature” in Konjic. The promotion was held as part of the event “Konjic Book Days 23” in the Bosnian room of the NU Konjic, and the promoters of the book were Lejla Žujo – Marić and Fatima Trbonja.
The book was published in February of the current year, as a result of the research work of the last few years. As the author Dijana Hadžizukič told radiokonjic.ba, whose focus of research is Bosnian literature of the 20th century, the book “From Revolution to Exile” represents a collection of different texts that have been combined into one.

“The texts are combined in such a way that the first text is about revolutionaries and shareholders in the prose of Derviš Sušić, and I have included several novels by this author as my corpus. In doing so, I showed how he writes about those people who joined the partisans, those who did not, and those who were on the side of the fascists. Through the texts, I showed that Sušić actually gave a realistic picture, a wide range, not judging anyone, but he understood all people, both those who were partisans and those who were not, even though he himself was a partisan. Apart from Sušić, I also analyzed other authors, and through the texts, I showed how they also wrote,” said author Dijana Hadžizukić.
Through the authors she analyzed who wrote in the 1970s and 1980s, at the end of the book, the author concludes with a text about authors who write in our modern times, who do not live in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
That’s exactly the second part of the title, authors living in exile. Some of those authors are Aleksandar Hemon who works in America, Bekim Sejranović who lived in Norway, Semezdin Mehmedinović who lives in the USA and others. In that part of the book, I wanted to show what kind of literature they write, how much artistic value these authors have, what their basic themes are, and the differences between them. Based on the texts I read, I came to the conclusion that they are rather autobiographically oriented with a lot of nostalgia for Sarajevo and Bosnia in general.”

The book “From Revolution to Exile – studies and Essays from Bosnian Literature” was conceived in three parts and includes studies, anniversaries and approaches. It opens up the possibility of interpreting different literary genres in a new light and in the recognizable context of Bosnian literature and culture, which is of great importance for us, said promoter Lejla Žujo – Marić.
“For the first part of the book – studies, it is interesting that Prof. Hadžizukić puts the classics of Bosnian literature in focus, offers new readings, sheds light on hitherto unexplained issues through individual themes from the context of the literary works of individual authors such as Sušić, Ćopić, Andrić and then on to Trifković, Isaković and recent literary phenomena such as the theme of exile in Bosnian literature. In my opinion, revolution and exile are the two points on which the history of the 20th century rests, as well as the beginning of the present century. The book raises the question of how writers perceive history and what is their literary view of the most important historical and cultural processes. Revolution and exile are mutually connected, conditioned, because in order for the revolution to take place its participants must go into exile, that is, maybe some revolutions were started from exile,” promoter Žujo-Marić told radiokonjic.ba.
The mentioned book covers more than a century, which is a poetic and genre-wide oeuvre that is covered, according to the promoter Fatima Trbonja, who explained to the audience in detail about the parts of the book related to anniversaries and displays at tonight’s promotion.
“Throughout the book, the author dealt with both canonical writers and those who are still less represented in critical valorizations and texts. He makes a special contribution to texts that touch on dramatic literature, indicating that such texts are less represented in literary criticism. What is present throughout all the works is the fact that Professor Hažizukić always brings something that is poetically specific, taking into account the context of creation and the possibility of reception of the texts,” said Trbonja.
Kestenijada 2023
As part of the “Days of Neretvice 2023” event, the sixth “Kestenijada” organized by the City of Konjic and the SIN Neretvica Association will be held on October 28, starting at 11:00 a.m. in Seonica.
