After a three-day competition on the Neretva River in slalom, RX and downhill, the most successful competitors of the Konjic 2024 European Rafting Championship were announced tonight, ending this exceptional sporting event, which brought together 30 teams from 12 countries.

The absolute winner in men’s category is France 1, the second place was won by Slovakia, while Croatia 1 won the third place.
The absolute winner in the women’s category is the Czech Republic 1, the second-ranked team is Italy, and the third is the Czech Republic 2.
The absolute winner in the mixed category is team Italy 1, second-ranked is the Czech Republic, and third place was won by Italy 2.
The absolute winner in para-rafting is Italy, second place was won by Romania, and third place by Ukraine.
The participants were addressed and then awarded medals and unique woodcarving cups, the work of equestrian woodcarvers, the mayor of Konjic Osman Ćatić, European champion in bodybuilding and fitness Adnan Alagić, entrepreneur Jasmin Badžak and president of the World Rafting Federation Danilo Barmaz.
The judges at the European Rafting Championship were from 7 countries, and the representatives of the World Rafting Federation sent their congratulations for the successfully organized competition.
The director of the Konjic 2024 European Rafting Championship, Samir Krivić, thanked everyone who helped in any way to organize the competition at a high level, saying that he expects this story to continue.
The championship was organized by the club “Rafting River Guide” Konjic and Garden City Hotel Konjic, with the approval of the World Rafting Federation (WRF) and with the support of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and under the auspices of the City of Konjic, as part of the City of Konjic Day.
Tonight’s ceremony ended the competitive part, and as part of the European Rafting Championship, a business regatta on the Neretva will be organized tomorrow, for everyone who helped to hold this competition, which will officially end the European Rafting Championship Konjic 2024.

Ceremonial opening of the Museum of the Lisičići Submerged Area in the open
As part of the “Days of the City of Konjic”, the mayor of Konjic, Osman Ćatić, and the president of the Association of Citizens of the Lisičići Submerged Area, Hamdo Lepara, officially opened the open-air Museum of the Lisičići Submerged Area in this settlement. The ceremony was attended by numerous guests and dignitaries from the public and political, cultural, sports and religious life of the City of Konjic and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The museum, which is located on the right bank of the Jablanica lake, on the famous beach in Lisičići, consists of five panels showing the creation of Lisičići from the Neolithic period until the time of its submergence in 1952. As Hamdo Lepara, the president of the mentioned association, said, Lisičići existed before 5000 BC. and it is a settlement that cherishes its history, culture and tradition.
“We preserve what is sacred to us, which is our past if we want to have a brighter and better future. We want our young generations, together with all of us, to know how rich this is,” – said Lepara.
The mayor of Konjic, Osman Ćatić, praised the work of the association and its members, i.e. the residents of Lisičići, who work hard to preserve the history of this region and its tourist promotion.
“They have continuity in their work and a desire to present their settlement in the best possible way. On behalf of the City of Konjic and the people of Konjic, I congratulate them on these activities, because in a way, what they imagine and wish for, they do it, as is the case with this museum today,” – said Mayor Ćatić.
Džafer Alić, president of the Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, attended today’s ceremony, and in his address he pointed out the importance of such projects.
“This is a small ‘cube’ (piece) of our identity, existence and continuity in these areas and certainly every event is important. What I want to point out is that as much as we as politicians, as those whom you tasked to work at that level, you do a lot more with projects like this. We would like to see as many activities as possible when it comes to this topic and the development of our small places and cities,” – Alić said.
Today, the hosts also awarded certificates of appreciation to the institutions, organizations and individuals who contributed to the opening of the Lisičići Open Air Museum of the Sunken Area. All visitors that the road brings to Lisičići will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the archaeological sites and exhibits found in the area in one place, but also to learn about the sinking of Lisičići, which for many residents was one of the most tragic events in the history of its existence.
The event was held as part of Konjic City Days, with the technical realization of the National University of Konjic.

The European Rafting Championship was officially opened in Konjic
Last night, the European Rafting Championship was officially opened in Konjic, organized by the Rafting River Guide club and Garden City Hotel Konjic, with the approval of the World Rafting Federation and with the support of the BiH Olympic Committee, under the auspices of the City of Konjic. “The organization of the race is at the world level, and the Neretva, with its natural beauty, is a unique pearl of this area. I was particularly impressed by the night track, which is really beautiful and gives a completely new dimension to the whole event. I wish everyone a successful competition and I hope for the tradition of establishing the competition organization on the Neretva” – said Purjakov.
Even Samir Krivić, director of the European Rafting Championship in Konjic, did not hide his happiness and satisfaction at the successful organization of the competition.
“Our city and the Neretva River really deserve to be high on the scale of the world rafting story. This is a fact and we have proven it,” – said Krivić.
Teams from: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Italy, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina (which will have two teams from Konjic and Zenica) will participate in the European Rafting Championship. The championship lasts until June 15, and three races will be held: Slalom, RX and Downhill, as well as night races.
Last night ceremony ended with fireworks over the Konjic Old bridge.

MS Community BiH Conference in Konjic
The 11th MS Community BiH conference will be held in Konjic on April 18 and 19, which will be organized by the MS Community BiH Association under the patronage of the city of Konjic. The goal of the conference is to encourage innovation and creativity, creating a space for an intensive exchange of knowledge and experiences under the slogan ”1inspire 1innovate”. The topics of the conference, which will be organized in the Garden City Congress Center, are advanced digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cyber security, specific solutions in field of cloud infrastructure, development of software and IoT technologies. The conference consists of 3 full-day workshops and 25 lectures held by top IT experts from 9 countries.
The final preparations for this event are underway, during which Association representatives Damir Dizdarević and Omar Kudović, a resident of Konjic, visited Konjic and met with the mayor of Konjic, Osman Ćatić.
-We are extremely glad that we are in Konjic this year and this is the first time after 10 years of holding the conference that we have moved the conference from Sarajevo. First of all, I would like to thank the Mayor of the City of Konjic, who recognized the importance of this conference and accepted the role the City of Konjic as a patron and thus helped to host it. This is one of the most important IT events in Bosnia and Herzegovina which gathers experts from this field. So far, we have registered lecturers from the countries of the wider region and a large number of participants, especially young people who we gather here and to whom we give the most important information about current events and technologies from this very dynamic IT world over two days. This year, the conference is being organized for the first time as a two-day meeting with a rich program and contents, and we sincerely hope that this is the beginning of a very good cooperation between our Association and the City of Konjic – said Damir Dizdarević, president of the MS Community Association.
– The city of Konjic strives, in accordance with its possibilities, to help every type of organization of events held in our city. I am glad that we will be present in full capacity in this program.Our wish is that as many programs of this and similar contents as possible to be held in Konjic, as we recently had a Math Camp, where our children from Konjic could also participate. The presentation of project ”Konjic, a sustainable tourist destination” was held
On Thursday, 28th of March a presentation of the project ”Konjic, a sustainable tourist destination” took place, which will be financed by the city of Konjic and the Swiss non-governmental organization Caritas.
The implementation of project activities during 2024 and 2025 will achieve the specific goals of the project, namely:
1. Create preconditions for systematic monitoring and management of tourism development in Konjic
By establishing a database, analyzing the current situation in the field of tourism, as well as by creating preconditions for constant monitoring of changes in the local tourist market, we will create preconditions for regular periodic analysis of the state and trends in this area.
2. Systematically organize the market for two tourist products offered by the city
Given that rafting is the most common form of outdoor activity, we want to contribute to the sustainable development and improvement of services in the tourism sector through its systematic arrangement and connection with mountain tourism. The introduction of a control and management system for rafting and other tourist services with the participation of a coordination mechanism is the starting point for managing the development of the destination.
Ultimately, by establishing a sustainable destination management system with a focus on managing rafting and other tourist services on the Neretva River, we would have an insight into the number of visitors and users of rafting services, which would represent the basis for further data analysis, while the realization of income based on established fees would ensure the long-term financial viability of the project.
Konjic will be a host of the “European Rafting Championship Konjic 2024”
Preparations for the organization of the “European Rafting Championship Konjic 2024”, which will be held from June 10th to 15th, 2024, organized by the World Rafting Federation and under the auspices of the City of Konjic has begun.
On this occasion, the Vice President of the World Rafting Federation Boris Purjakov, the President of the Rafting Association of Serbia, visited Konjic with the director of the Konjic 2024 European Rafting Championship, Samir Krivić, and visited the locations on the Neretva River where the competition will take place.
“This is something that has been prepared for many years and now the circumstances are such that we can realize it. There is still a lot to do, but we at the World Rafting Federation believe that this competition will be at the highest level. The president of the World Rafting Federation, Danilo Barmaz, will also come to Konjic” – said Purjakov, pointing out that they are familiar with the potential offered by Konjic and the Neretva river.
Samir Krivić said that the competition will be held in three disciplines.
“Due to its attractiveness for citizens, the descent will take place from Džajići to Konjic Old Bridge, the slalom race will be in the area of Džajića buk, where a slalom course will be made, and the third discipline is a race of two boats competing in parallel. In addition, we will organize a business regatta for numerous dignitaries” – said Krivić, adding that this is a significant event that will bring great benefits, not only for the City of Konjic, but also for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its promotion.
Boris Purjakov, who has been to all the World Rafting Championships for the past fifteen years, said that everything that has been prepared so far for the competition on the Neretva gives the possibility for Konjic to apply for the organization of the World Rafting Championship.
