Preparations have begun for the organization of the “European Rafting Championship Konjic 2024”, which will be held from June 10 to 15, 2024, organized by the World Rafting Federation and sponsored by the City of Konjic.

On this occasion, the Vice President of the World Rafting Federation Boris Purjakov who is also the President of the Rafting Association of Serbia was in Konjic, who together with the director of the Konjic 2024 European Rafting Championship, Samir Krivić, visited the locations on the Neretva River where the competition will take place.
“This is something that has been prepared for many years and now the circumstances are such that we can realize it. There is still a lot to do, but we at the World Rafting Federation believe that this competition will be at the highest level. The president of the World Rafting Federation, Danilo Barmaz, will also come to Konjic” – said Purjakov, pointing out that they are familiar with the potential offered by Konjic and the Neretva River.
Samir Krivić said that the competition will be held in 3 disciplines.
“Descent, due to its attractiveness for the citizens, will be held from village Džajići to the Old bridge, the slalom race will be in the Džajić buk area, where a slalom course will be made, and the third discipline is a race of two boats competing in parallel. In addition, we will organize a business regatta for numerous dignitaries” – said Krivić, adding that this is a significant event that will bring great benefits, not only for the City of Konjic, but also for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its promotion.
Boris Purjakov, who has attended all the World Rafting Championships for the past 15 years, said that everything that has been prepared so far for the competition on the Neretva gives the possibility for Konjic to apply for the organization of the World Rafting Championship.

Providing of Technical Assistance for Diaspora Companies
USAID Diaspora Invest Project is soliciting applications from qualified diaspora-owned or diaspora-related Micro, Small and Medium Sized enterprises (MSME) registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the provision of technical assistance.
Technical assistance may include, but is not limited to strategy and business consulting, support for digitalization, marketing, sales and communications assistance, introduction of international standards and certifications, workforce training, etc.
Public call is open to limited liability or joint-stock companies registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina that are up to 6 years old and that have a demonstrable diaspora connection (diaspora ownership, co-ownership, or verifiable business partnership).

The opening of the fishing season is one of the ways to promote fishing and tourism, said the president of the Konjic Sports Fishermen’s Assembly, Hrabren Kapić.
“The opening of the season on Lake Borac and its tributaries begins on March 1. We undertook activities like every year for the purpose of promoting sport-recreational fishing and tourism in general. We have a lot of questions from our fishermen from the area of Konjic, but also from Sarajevo” – said Kapić, appealing to all fishermen to comply with all fishing regulations, and one of them is the number of daily catches.
“The stocking was carried out, it is more for the purpose of promoting sport fishing, for people to have fun. The opening on March 1st coincides with the end of the brown trout season, which can be fished from March 1st. In the tributaries, we urge everyone to comply with all regulations, including the number of daily catches. Other sports fishermen also come to Boračko Lake, who hunt other types of fish. Unfortunately, we had a virus that destroyed the carp fish stock to a significant extent,” Kapić said.
Kapić reminds on which tributaries there is a permanent ban on fishing.
“The river Rakitnica upstream from Dubočani is closed for fishing throughout the year, the same River Neretvica from the mouth of the river Plavušnica, all the way to the source is closed for fishing. Other rivers that are attractive for fishermen, such as Bijela, Trešanica, part of the Ljuta River, are allowed for fishing” – stated Kapić.
This year, the senior and junior teams of OSF Konjic will participate in numerous competitions, and a competition in Konjic is also planned. Enrollment in the fly fishing school can be done every day, and classes are held three times a week.

Open annual call for applications/grants through the Small Grants Fund in cooperation with municipalities/cities and implemented by the USAID Diaspora Invest Project
The Call was opened in cooperation with the City of Konjic, as one of the partner Local Self-Government Units, with the aim of encouraging direct investments in cooperation with the diaspora.
An SME, as an applicant, can be a startup or an established company that has been operating for a maximum of three years (0 to 3 years) at the time of submitting the grant application.
The submitted grant/grant application should meet the investment to investment ratio of at least 1:1.
The focus is on co-financing investments in basic assets for business in BiH with the support of the diaspora.
All grants awarded under this Public Call will support common goals:
- Increase direct investments of the diaspora
- Support the creation of new jobs
- Promote business growth, as indicated by sales and/or exports
- Introduce new products and services to domestic and international markets
Grants will be distributed depending on available funds, ranging from 15,000.00 BAM to 70,000.00 BAM for a maximum implementation period of 18 months.
The call is open until September 21, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

USAID Tourism invites micro and small businesses in Bosnia and Herzegovina to apply for an individualized mentoring program with the aim of strengthening their business through specialized support aimed at increasing sales and improving their presence on digital platforms and social networks. This program is ideal for companies that strive to grow and want to expand their business in the digital space.
The Call is open to all micro and small businesses operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina, however, in order to further promote and support local initiatives that contribute to the development and enrichment of the tourist offer of Bosnia and Herzegovina, preference in the selection process will be given to those businesses that are actively involved in the initiatives Herzegovina Wine Roads (HWR) and Most Beautiful Villages of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MBV).
Participants in the mentoring program will have access to a range of resources and expert advice tailored to their challenges and needs. The program is designed to provide participants with the tools and knowledge needed for effective online promotion of their services and products, and the use of social networking platforms to attract a wider audience.

13th International Chess Tournament “Konjic Open 2024”.
In the period from February 29th, until 3rd March 2024, and on the occasion of marking March 1, the Independence Day of BiH and March 3, the Day of Liberation of Konjic from Fascism, Konjic will be the venue for the 13th international chess tournament “Konjic Open 2024”.
As part of the tournament, a fast-paced tournament “Memory of Master Adi Kosovac” will be held.
All players have the right to participate, regardless of Fide rating.
The organizer of this tournament is the “Igman” chess club from Konjic, and the tournament will be held at the Garden City Hotel Konjic.
So far, 103 players from 11 countries have registered, so Konjic will be the center of the chess public in the coming days.
Applications for this important event will be possible until February 29, 2024. year.
