“At the initiative of the City of Konjic, Šumarstvo ‘Prenj’, in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Agropedology, is implementing a reforestation project on the fire-damaged area of Homolje. The project is worth around 250,000 KM and is funded by the Environmental Protection Fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which approved the funds following the successful completion of the first phase,” stated Elma Ljevo.

The concert was a side event of the 12th Festival of Actors of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was opened in Konjic on May 5th with the play “Ne daj se generacijo” by the Youth Theatre Sarajevo, and will conclude on June 4th with the awarding of prizes to the best actors.

Performing for the second time at the Festival of Actors of BiH in Konjic, Amira Medunjanin delighted the audience with her interpretation. The sevdah diva, accompanied by top musicians, performed not only traditional sevdalinkas but also original compositions written for her, as well as popular rock melodies and evergreen hits. The people of Konjic enjoyed the concert, singing along with her in chorus, and rewarded her with a thunderous round of applause at the end of the performance.

“This is my great Bosnian-Herzegovinian musical story, and I’m immensely looking forward to it. We will sing what our hearts know, all across our beautiful Bosnia and Herzegovina, and bow to the audience with full hearts and lots of love,” said Amira Medunjanin, who expressed how incredibly happy she was to perform once again among her fellow people of Konjic, especially since her father is originally from Glavatičevo, near Konjic.

Tonight, the festival program continues with the comedy “Suparnice”, performed by the Lectirum Theatre from Zagreb, starring Ksenija Pajić, Mladen Čutura, and Natalija Đorđević.

The play was written by Marijana Nola and directed by Saša Broz. It will be performed in the cinema hall of the Konjic National University, starting at 7:30 p.m.

After the start at the Stone Bridge, the race took place on the promenade along the left bank of the Neretva River.

A total of 35 participants took part in this humanitarian race in Konjic, and the organizers provided prizes for the top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories.

First place in the men’s category was won by Elvedin Tunović, who ran 34.3 kilometers. Second place went to Enes Efendić with 30 kilometers, and third place to Nihad Efendić with 28.08 kilometers — all from Sarajevo.

In the women’s category, first place went to Leila Hadžić from Sarajevo, who ran 25.05 kilometers. Second place was taken by Jasenka Ljubović, also from Sarajevo, with 22 kilometers, and third place went to Jasmina Maksumić from Jablanica, who ran 17.04 kilometers.

The president of AK Pace Konjic, Mahir Mujić, who also participated in the race, expressed his gratitude to the City of Konjic, the Konjic Police Department, the Konjic Mountain Rescue Service, Radio Konjic, as well as the volunteers who helped out today.

The BiH Actor’s Festival brings together theater productions from different parts of the country and the region, and this year, six theaters from Bosnia and Herzegovina and two from Croatia and Montenegro are planned to perform, said the director of the National University Konjic, Benjamin Mušinović.

“The National University of Konjic, under the auspices of the City of Konjic and numerous partners and friends from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, presents the 12th season of the Festival of Actors of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The festival will take place from May 5 to June 4, and on the National University’s big stage we will present eight professional theater productions, six from Bosnia and Herzegovina and two from the region, from Croatia and Montenegro. All this thanks to international cultural cooperation and the good relations we continuously cultivate with Tivat and Zagreb”- said Mušinović.

The opening program also includes a visual performance showcasing the festival’s repertoire, which consists of eight official performances and five accompanying educational activities, Mušinović said.

“This year, the festival will be officially opened by the Mayor of Konjic, Mr. Osman Ćatić, after a visual performance that will present a cross-section of the complete repertoire, all eight official programs and five accompanying educational programs,” added Mušinović.

The first play on the program is on May 5th. It is an original project by actors Mario Drmač and Alen Muratović, entitled “Don’t give up, generation,” revealed the director of National University Konjic.

“This is a touching and humorous comedy that was performed in front of packed halls throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. I am convinced that the people of Konjic and all our guests will truly enjoy this artistic theatrical work, and I hope that it will accompany the complete repertoire of this year’s festival,” said Mušinović.

The festival will close on June 4th with a concert program. Then the awards for the best actress, actor and collective act will be presented. The awards are decided by the festival jury, which, according to Benjamin Mušinović, consists of the audience from Konjic.

Mušinović expressed his gratitude to the general sponsor, the company Bosnalijek, the festival’s friend BH Telecom, as well as to BH Pošta and the ASA Group.

The International Day for Monuments and Sites is observed every year on April 18th, and stećci are an integral part of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cultural and historical heritage. A large number of stećci have been registered in the Konjic area, and the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of BiH has protected several necropolises. Muhamed Krnjić from the Center for Culture of the National University Konjic states that there are 150 necropolises:

“When it comes to stećci in the territory of the City of Konjic, according to available information, we have over 4,000 stećci and around 150 necropolises. Of course, some of these necropolises are protected by the Commission to Preserve National Monuments,” he said.

“The City of Konjic has carried out various cleaning projects; however, these are mostly forested areas that quickly become overgrown again. The fact that the city has over four thousand stećci shows that this is a significant location, and it is important for young people to become familiar with the number of stećci and to understand their important role in preserving intangible heritage.”

In the Konjic area, more than four thousand stećci have been registered, and in the recent period, no new groups or locations containing stećci have been discovered.

We can be proud of the fact that Konjic has more than four thousand stećaks and that tourists from all over the world recognize the value of these landmarks. For this reason, we must preserve the intangible national treasure with every new generation.

The training is organized as part of the project ‘Strengthening Cooperation and Capacity for a Better City of Konjic,’ which is implemented by the SARA Association. This project is part of the ‘Cohesion of Local Initiatives for Community Progress – KLIN’ initiative, carried out by the Agency for Local Democracy in Mostar, in cooperation with the Peace Building Network and supported by USAID through the ‘Power of the Local/Support to Local Resource Organizations’ project.

The three-day workshop will be held from Tuesday, December 17th to Thursday, December 19th, 2024, and will provide participants with both theoretical and practical knowledge about EU programs. The workshop will begin with an overview of available EU programs and will then cover all stages of project proposal development. Participants will learn how to analyze stakeholders, develop a problem and goal tree, create a high-quality logical framework, and properly complete project application forms. They will also gain insights into budget creation and receive valuable practical advice. The workshop will be interactive, with participants working in groups on their own examples to receive feedback from the instructor during the session.

Following the training, individual mentoring will be provided to each group, ensuring that the final result is a prepared project proposal for specific programs.

The workshop is intended for civil society organizations, public administration, public institutions, schools, and other interested parties from the Konjic area

Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the planned breaks, but the organizers do not cover transportation and accommodation costs for participants traveling from nearby towns. The number of spots is limited to ensure interactive and practical participation.

By learning and mastering the basic skills of adventure activities on the water, one contributes to the quality, safety, and legal regulation of rafting activities, for which the town of Konjic is recognizable and has entered the ranks of the most tempting destinations for adrenaline lovers.

On the occasion of marking the anniversary of Zuko’s death, the National University Konjic Institution and the Heritage Museum of the City of Konjic organized an Open Day of Zuko’s birthplace today, and an exhibition of photographs of Srđan Džumhur, Zuko’s close relative, was opened at the Wood Carving Museum in Konjic tonight.

At the opening of the exhibition, the director of National University Konjic Benjamin Mušinović pointed out that Zulfikar Zuko Džumhur “exuded” with sevdah and spoke about us most beautifully with his specific narrative and spread all the good things about our country all over the world, but also on small screens, bringing us beauty, but also spirituality.

Director and founder of the Konjic Wood Carving Museum, Orhan Nikšić, recalled in his address that he was still a boy when he saw Zuko for the first time because the famous artist was hanging out with his family.

“I knew he was someone important, but I couldn’t know at the time why he was important. I got to know his work and Zuka as an artist later by reading his works. Even today we admire his creativity, I often read his works that have not only artistic value but also what he said about life, which can make us better people. I am glad that tonight we are hosting an exhibition that reminds us of Zuko Džumhur”, Nikšić said.

Srđan Džumhur who is living in Celje and couldn’t attend the exhibition, is a close relative of Zuko Dzumhur and the author of the exhibition.

Srđan’s love for photography has been present since elementary school and continues to this day. In the beginning, it was black and white photos, and in the last 20 years, he has been photographing a lot of events in his family, in his company, and mostly of trips, which have accumulated a lot in the last 30 years. He has traveled almost all over the world, and making photo books is his focus.

“My goal is to record significant events in pictures and words, and to convey this succinctly in a photo book, from which one can notice the development of photo equipment, the development of photo software, and certainly my development,” explained Srđan Džumhur.
